We seek interns who demonstrate strong academic performance, engagement beyond the classroom, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine interest in Zoox’s mission.</span></div><div><br></div><div><b style="font-size:16px;">As a Mechanical Engineering Intern</b></div><div><span style="font-size:16px;">Interns in this pipeline may be considered for opportunities across a range of teams within the following teams:</span></div><div><br></div><div><b style="font-size:16px;">Body Structures:</b><span style="font-size:16px;"> Develop the next-generation of mobility by working on vehicle systems such as body safety structure, exterior aesthetic components, and electro-mechanisms, involving engineering design, validation, testing, and concept fabrication.</span></div><div><br></div><div><b style="font-size:16px;">Manufacturing Prototyping:</b><span style="font-size:16px;"> Develop automated CNC part programming solutions by working collaboratively with Mechanical Prototype Engineering and Fabrication teams.</span></div><div><br></div><div><b style="font-size:16px;">Serviceability: </b><span style="font-size:16px;">Support design assessments, inspection and maintenance, tooling development, and repair procedure validation.</span></div><div><br></div><div><b style="font-size:16px;">Infotainment and Sensing:</b><span style="font-size:16px;"> Support simulation and validation tasks for mechanical sensor structures and define cleanability tests.</span> <b style="font-size:16px;">Note: This specific opportunity is a 6-month internship. </b></div><br><br><h3>Program Requirements</h3><ul><li>Currently pursuing a B.S., M.S., or other advanced degree in a relevant engineering field.</li><li>Plan to return to school after completing the internship.</li><li>Maintain good academic standing.</li><li>Available to commit to either a 12-week summer internship (May or June 2026 start) or a 6-month co-op.</li><li>At least one prior industry internship, co-op, or relevant project experience.</li><li>Willing and able to relocate to the Bay Area, California, for the duration of the internship.</li><li>Interns may not use proprietary Zoox information in university theses, publications, or share it outside of Zoox.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Foundational understanding of mechanical design principles such as: GD&amp;T, prototyping, design-for-manufacturability (DFM), design-for-servicability (DFS), and design-for-assembly (DFA)</li><li>Experience with CATIA V5/V6  or similar CAD software</li><li>Basic understanding of quality control, process optimization, and yield analysis</li><li>Ability to identify appropriate test assets, data acquisition systems, and perform data analysis</li></ul><h3>Bonus Qualifications</h3><ul><li>FSAE/ Baja experience</li><li>Simulation/FEA coursework</li></ul><br><div><b style="font-size:16px;">Compensation:</b></div><div><span style="font-size:16px;">The monthly salary range for this position is $6,500 to $9,500. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level of education.
