The Joby Aviation team is made up of extremely talented, hardworking, proactive, and hands-on individuals, operating in a very fast-paced and rewarding environment. Come help us build advanced electrical powertrains as we try to make a mark in the transportation industry. This is a full-time, onsite position in San Carlos, CA.</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Working closely with the Battery Engineering team to build and test battery systems.</li> <li>Documenting work and creating work instructions.  </li> <li>Working on high voltage systems.  </li> <li>Building test articles, fixtures and reworking parts/assemblies.</li> <li>Applying sensors and thermocouples to test articles</li> <li>Building systems enclosures for test stands. </li> <li>Cleaning and organization of battery build/test lab space.</li> <li>Support battery thermal event testing and test space cleaning.</li> <li>Handling, packaging, labeling, and disposing of hazardous battery materials in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.</li> <li>Discharging and disposal of battery cells. </li> <li>Maintaining stock of supplies and requesting resupply as needed</li></ul><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>4-5+ years of experience on high voltage battery systems.</li> <li>Experience with manual and machine shop tools such as a mill, lathe or welder (laser, TIG, MIG). </li> <li>Experience soldering and integrating circuit board assemblies.</li> <li>Knowledge of bonding processes, tools and materials.</li> <li>Ability to work in hazmat PPE for extended periods .</li> <li>Experience working with hazardous materials and following safety guidelines for handling battery components.</li> <li>Able to work in a fast paced environment and maintain high standards of work.</li> <li>Team oriented attitude.</li> <li>Strong oral and written communication skills.</li> <li>High school diploma or GED equivalent.</li></ul><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>Experience with industrial environments and procedures.</li> <li>Experience working in a production environment.</li> <li>Post-secondary education or training in a technical field.</li> <li>Knowledge of additive and subtractive manufacturing.</li></ul><h2>Additional Information</h2><p>Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) in Joby Aviation. The target base pay for this position is $44-$55/hr.
