The intern will research and assess current data cataloging and metadata capabilities at Zoox (including platforms such as </span><b style="font-size:16px;">Databricks</b><span style="font-size:16px;"> and other internal tools), identify gaps and opportunities, and help articulate how these capabilities can better support the organization.</span></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size:16px;">In addition, the intern will contribute to </span><b style="font-size:16px;">foundational data education efforts</b><span style="font-size:16px;">, helping document and socialize core concepts such as data management, data governance, data lineage, data quality, and data ownership across technical and non-technical stakeholders.</span></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size:16px;">This role offers exposure to enterprise-scale data platforms and the opportunity to influence how teams discover, understand, and trust data.</span></div><br><br><h3>Program Requirements</h3><ul><li>Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field</li><li>Plan to return to school after completing the internship.</li><li>Maintain good academic standing.</li><li>Available to commit to a 12-week internship beginning in May or June 2026.</li><li>At least one prior industry internship, co-op, or relevant project experience.</li><li>Willing and able to relocate to the Bay Area, California, for the duration of the internship.</li><li>Interns may not use proprietary Zoox information in university theses, publications, or share it outside of Zoox.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Strong interest in data platforms, data management, and enterprise systems</li><li>Familiarity with basic data concepts (datasets, schemas, metadata, lineage, or analytics)</li><li>Comfortable working with structured data and documentation (e.g., SQL basics, Python, notebooks, or technical writing)</li><li>Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to synthesize findings into clear recommendations</li><li>Clear written and verbal communication skills; comfortable explaining technical concepts to diverse audiences</li></ul><h3>Bonus Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Exposure to data cataloging, metadata management, or governance tools (e.g., Databricks, Collibra, Alation, DataHub)</li><li>Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, etc.)</li><li>Prior coursework or projects in data governance, data architecture, or information management</li><li>Experience creating documentation, diagrams, or educational material</li></ul><br><div><b style="font-size:16px;">Compensation:</b></div><div><span style="font-size:16px;">The monthly salary range for this position is $6,500 to $9,500.
