The preferred location for this position is Vaasa, Finland. We offer the possibility of hybrid work.   Your role and responsibilities   As an HPC System Administrator your work will include supporting our simulation personnel by maintaining our High-Performance Computing cluster and simulation software, monitoring performance, planning future upgrades, installing software license keys, and solving related issues for securing high availability of the system. The tasks can also be adjusted based on your individual skills and interests. You’ll be working as a part of System Analysis team within Wärtsilä’s R&amp;D and Engineering organisation with diverse expertise.  Your work will focus on these responsibilities: <ul><li>Provide day-to-day support and maintenance for our simulation cluster, including hardware, software, and storage systems.</li><li>Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability for users.</li><li>Collaborate with engineers and researchers to optimize simulation workflows and resolve technical challenges.</li><li>Assist with software and hardware upgrades, expansions, and integration of new technologies into the cluster environment.</li><li>Maintain documentation and contribute to continuous improvement of operational processes.</li></ul>  To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:  <ul><li>Experience with computer cluster systems (HPC environments, distributed computing, or similar).</li><li>Familiarity with storage systems (e.g. Parallel storage) as well as security and backup solutions.</li><li>Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, command-line tools and scripting (e.g. Python).</li><li>Knowledge of system monitoring tools and cluster management software.</li><li>Experience in simulation software (e.g. Abaqus, OpenFOAM, or similar) is a plus.</li><li>Ability to analyse and resolve technical problems independently and as part of a team.</li><li>Good communication skills in English.</li></ul>  Why you and us?    We at Wärtsilä believe in empowerment, ownership and taking responsibility of our work.
