This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.</div>Job Summary  Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Quality Innovation Engineering Intern to support the development and implementation of quality strategies and support quality assessments of the design, build, and operation of near-term nuclear and non-nuclear hardware demonstration projects. The Quality Innovation Engineering Intern will work in close partnership with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls (I&amp;C), testing, manufacturing, operations, and licensing engineering staff to identify safety-related items and activities, applicable quality assurance requirements, support the development of quality strategies, and support assessments of activities in progress and after completion to ensure effective quality program implementation.  In addition, the Quality Innovation Engineering Intern will work with technology partners to collect operating experience from the Kairos Power technology development program and identify potential conditions adverse to quality, associated causes and corrective actions. This role will contribute to the technology development programs for the demonstration and commercialization of Kairos Power reactors.  Responsibilities  <ul><li>Develop and document quality strategies rooted in engineering best practices to satisfy applicable quality requirements for safety-related systems and projects. </li><li>Support assessments of the implementation of quality strategies across project lifetimes using in-field observation, interviews and objective evidence from documents and records. </li><li>Participate in project meetings, reviews and walkthroughs to support identification of risks, gaps and improvement opportunities in work execution and documentation.  </li><li>Assist Kairos Power hardware technology development by capturing, analyzing and disseminating operating experience, as well as support corrective action and continuous improvement. </li><li>Support continuous improvement efforts internal to the Quality Innovation team that improve automation of analysis and documentation work products.  </li><li>Assist with tracking and trending quality-related data (e.g., nonconformances, operating experience, assessment outcomes) and preparing summaries for team review.  </li><li>Other duties as assigned, which may include hands-on assignments with hardware fabrication, assembly, commissioning, and operation.  </li></ul>Qualifications  <ul><li>Currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Civil, or Materials Engineering, or equivalent. </li><li>Experience with data analysis/automation and ability to develop further experience in R, R Markdown, Python, git, LaTeX, Bash/Shell/Batch scripting, Docker, VS Code, GitHub, etc. </li><li>Hands-on experience with hardware design, fabrication, assembly, or testing preferred.  </li></ul>Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities <ul><li>Strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills. </li><li>Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills. </li><li>Ability to problem solve quickly and efficiently. </li><li>Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge.  </li><li>Analytical skills to identify trends, anomalies and potential causes from qualitative and quantitative data.  </li><li>Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues.  </li><li>Ability to plan and execute tasks with minimal direction after training, including timely escalation of risks/issues.  </li><li>Prioritizes and ensures safety of oneself and others. </li></ul>Physical Demands  <ul><li>Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and the like. </li><li>Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting, for prolonged periods. </li><li>Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. </li><li>Adjusting, moving, transporting, installing, positioning, or removing objects up to 25 pounds in all directions, with or without accommodation. </li><li>Use hand tools.  </li></ul>Environmental Conditions  <ul><li>General office environment. </li><li>Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned. </li><li>High-concentration, demanding and fast-paced. </li><li>Prototyping/Test Facilities. </li><li>Manufacturing/Industrial and Construction Environments. </li></ul>Safety and PPE  <ul><li>Reading and interpreting hazardous warning signs. </li><li>Reporting issues with equipment or unsafe conditions. </li><li>Wearing proper PPE, to include face mask, face shields, gloves, safety shoes, etc.  </li></ul>Travel  <ul><li>Some travel may be required (5%)  </li></ul><ul><li> Onsite: #LI-Onsite</li></ul><div>About our BenefitsWe know that we have some of the most talented and dedicated employees, and we believe in rewarding them accordingly.
