Kevala is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Back End to join our team. As a back end computing engineer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and operating code and cloud infrastructure for organizing data and exposing it to our front end via an API.The applicant must have current, unrestricted work authorization in the United States. This job is not eligible for visa sponsorship.<h2>What you will be doing</h2><ul><li>Collaborating with product managers, project managers, and data scientists to develop Google cloud-based tools for generating and storing historic and forecast electric power consumption data and exposing it via APIs.</li></ul><ul><li>Diving into difficult problems facing the US electric grid by ingesting and organizing and exposing massive data sets, and running mathy algorithms against these data sets.</li></ul><ul><li>Working in our Google Cloud-based tech stack, which includes Python, Django, Ray, Postgresql, and Kubernetes</li></ul><ul><li>Providing technical leadership in architecting, maintaining, testing, monitoring APIs and related code for organizing data.</li></ul><ul><li>Setting a high bar for productivity, cooperation, and code quality as measured by the team’s overall output.</li></ul><ul><li>Helping to hire, mentor, develop, and support team members.</li></ul><h3>What you need to succeed</h3><ul><li>5+ years of experience with cloud-based back end application development.</li></ul><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience</li></ul><ul><li>Experience building analytic back end applications, particularly for SaaS companies.</li></ul><ul><li>Versatility and enthusiasm for taking on novel challenges and learning new technologies.</li></ul><ul><li>Excellent communication and collaboration skills.</li></ul> The compensation for this opportunity includes a base salary range of $120,000 - $160,000, plus equity (stock options). This is our target compensation range and is subject to multiple factors, including level, experience, and location. As you go through our interview process, our recruiter will work with you to identify a competitive base salary within the proposed range and combine it with an equity package that reflects your excitement about joining Kevala.This is a fully remote role which can be located anywhere within the United States. Please note, actual salaries may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, education, experience, and location.
