We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.</p><h2>Overview</h2><p>We are seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EH&amp;S) Specialist to support the implementation and day-to-day execution of safety and environmental programs at our San Carlos site. This role focuses on field-based support, regulatory compliance, and practical risk reduction, helping ensure safe operations and a healthy workplace for all employees.</p><p>In this role, you will work closely with site leadership, operations, and engineering teams to identify hazards, support corrective actions, and assist with inspections, audits, and incident investigations. You will help implement established EH&amp;S programs, deliver training, and support safety communications while building strong relationships with the workforce and reinforcing a positive safety culture.</p><p>This position is based in San Carlos, CA, with periodic travel to other local Joby sites to support EH&amp;S activities.</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Support the implementation and maintenance of environmental, health, safety, and industrial hygiene programs to ensure safe and compliant operations.</li> <li>Identify workplace hazards and assist with the development and execution of engineering and administrative controls to reduce risk and exposure.</li> <li>Conduct inspections, audits, and assessments of work areas, equipment, and processes to identify unsafe conditions and support corrective actions.</li> <li>Provide technical guidance and regulatory support to manufacturing and support teams on EH&amp;S requirements and best practices.</li> <li>Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and follow-up to ensure timely closure and organizational learning.</li> <li>Support compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, DOT, fire and electrical codes, and environmental regulations.</li> <li>Help manage regulatory reporting, documentation, and systems (e.g., SDS, CERS, BRS, workers’ compensation coordination).</li> <li>Support the development and delivery of required EH&amp;S training, communications, and Safety Committee activities.</li> <li>Participate in continuous improvement and Lean initiatives (e.g., 5S, visual management) to embed safety into daily operations</li> <li>Perform other related EH&amp;S duties as needed.</li></ul><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Safety, Environmental management, Industrial Hygiene, or related technical field.</li> <li>2+ years of Experience in EHS in a similar role.</li> <li>Understands OSHA, NFPA, EPA, DOT, DTSC. for management and employees.</li></ul><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>Experience in aeronautics and/or manufacturing environments.</li> <li>Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) certifications desired.</li></ul><h2>Additional Information</h2><p>Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
