To date, more than 20,000 young people have participated in the Corps classes and service projects, learning new skills while contributing to the quality of life for residents of the greater Los Angeles area. Mission We create equitable opportunities for young people to build resilience in themselves, their communities and the environment through a program of work, education and support. Position SummaryReporting to the Sr. Program Manager, the Program Coordinator implements the mission of the LA Conservation Corps by using his/her leadership skills to develop the educational and work skills of corpsmembers, enabling them to advance in their own personal and career opportunities. The Program Coordinator adds value to the mission of the L A Conservation Corps by using her/his data management, customer service, and supervisory skills to develop the technical and personal skills of their staff while enhancing the City Plants Program. S/he accomplishes this mission by managing all data entry, providing customer service and being responsible for the logistical aspects of the City Plants Program as well as, supervising and leading crew supervisors who are responsible for the immediate supervision and development of corpsmembers. The Program Coordinator also ensures that the communities served receive the highest quality natural resources and conservation projects. Other duties assigned, as needed. Essential ResponsibilitiesCOMPLIANCE Is accountable for establishing a safe working environment where no industrial injuries occur that can be attributed to negligence, carelessness, and/or inappropriate safety practices.   FACILITATION AND PARTNERSHIPS Conducts regular program meetings to ensure that operations and program goals are being met. Participates in weekly management team meetings. Works and communicates with program sponsors, local Community Based Organizations (CBO’s), and other public and private agencies to guarantee scheduled goals are met. Supervises, inputs and reviews data and documentation, and manages TreesForLA data and provides customer service. FISCAL MANAGEMENT Assists Senior Program Director in managing program activities and the overall management of annual budgets for assigned programs. Helps develop specific program/project budgets and manage associated fiscal resources. Enters and monitors contracts budgets (via ABM) periodically to ensure appropriate expenditures are within contract guidelines. PROGRAM MANAGEMENT Responsible for supervising individuals who report to this position. Responsible for program deliverables, goals, and outcomes. Appropriates human and material resources to ensure the projects are completed successfully and within the budget. Works in conjunction with the Senior Program Director to secure necessary resources for proper department functionality. Oversees the advanced monthly scheduling of work crews to insure a seamless flow of work for short-, mid- and long-term planning. Works with management to foster new funding and fee-for-service contract opportunities. In conjunction with helping to develop cost estimates on work opportunities. Manages the data operating system, including data backup, periodic system checks, upkeep and maintenance of office equipment.Organizes special projects and community tree plantings as requested by Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. Ability to work independently.Intermediate level of computer skills (Microsoft Office environment) including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, software and Internet research.High level of interpersonal skills, integrity and the ability to keep information confidential.Uses good judgment, evaluates alternatives in the achievement of quality outcomes. Results-/Solution-oriented; flexible.Passion for the Corps and ability to articulate its mission. Required Education And ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalency from an accredited institution required; AA and/or bachelor’s degree preferred AND at least two (2) years of experience working and/or training young people of various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. Proficiency in using and providing instruction for tools appropriate for various work projects. Previous experience working in the non-profit or public sector preferred.  Other Duties and Requirements Attend events and meetings in the community to support the program. This can involve working Saturdays or Sundays, as needed. Standard multi-media first aid certification. If you do not currently possess a standard multi-media first aid certification, you will have 90 days from the effective date of acquiring this position to secure it. Pass a post-offer drug/alcohol screen test before commencing employment (required to submit for the drug/alcohol screening at a company designated facility). Pass a post-offer Live Scan (fingerprint/background clearance-Department of Justice) before commencing employment.  California Driver’s License, validation of driving record for commercial policy insurability per the requirements of the state of California.  If a private vehicle is utilized for company purposes validation of a California Class C Driver’s License, validation of driving record and approval of commercial policy insurability is required in conjunction with proof of personal minimum liability insurance coverage per the requirements of the state of California.  Reference checks will be conducted; employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable references.  Salary and BenefitsSalary $62,381.24 - $78,964.18 annually (reflects the entire salary range).  A starting salary higher than $62,381.24 annually is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale (salary range).Medical, Dental, Vision Benefits with 93% employer coverage of costs for employee and 79% coverage for additional family members. 3 weeks of vacation accrued per year; 11 paid Holidays and 80 hours of sick time accrued per year. 401k retirement plan with match of up to 3%.  Application Procedure Internal applicants must review the Transfers/Promotions guidelines and complete a LA Conservation Corps Transfer/Promotion Career Opportunity Application within three (3) working days of the “Posting Date.” This information can be requested from the Human Resources Department.
