<h2>Overview</h2>The Category Analyst is an entry‑level role designed for individuals early in their career who are passionate about data, consumer behavior, and storytelling through insights. This role provides hands‑on training and development in data analytics, syndicated data tools, performance reporting, and category management fundamentals. Working closely with senior team members, cross-functional partners, and the broader Insights team, the Category Analyst will support business decision-making across key product categories and gain exposure to sales, marketing, and operations. Based in our DTLA Arts District corporate office, this hybrid position works in-office Tuesday through Thursday.<h2>Responsibilities</h2>Data Analysis &amp; Reporting<ul> <li>Learn and apply analytical techniques to extract insights from internal sales data and syndicated tools</li> <li>Support data cleansing, hierarchy management, and maintenance of product category structures</li> <li>Build weekly and monthly reporting dashboards to monitor business performance</li> <li>Track key performance indicators (KPIs), highlight performance drivers, and flag areas requiring deeper review</li> <li>Prepare clear, concise reports and visualizations for internal stakeholders</li></ul>Category Analysis<ul> <li>Assist in evaluating category trends, sales performance, market share, and profitability metrics</li> <li>Support deeper ad‑hoc analyses on key business questions and strategic priorities</li> <li>Help identify growth opportunities, competitive dynamics, and potential risks within assigned categories</li> <li>Use consumer insights and shopper behavior trends to inform sales and marketing strategy</li></ul>Category Management<ul> <li>Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to support the development of category strategies</li> <li>Learn how assortment, pricing, and promotional levers influence retail performance</li> <li>Help monitor competitive activity and broader industry trends</li> <li>Contribute to customer-facing materials, including category reviews and selling stories</li></ul>Project Management<ul> <li>Lead and manage category-related projects, ensuring timely and efficient execution</li> <li>Collaborate with internal stakeholders to achieve project objectives</li></ul><h2>Qualifications</h2>Required<ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Statistics, Data Analytics, or a related field</li> <li>Strong analytical aptitude and interest in working with data</li> <li>Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, charts, basic formulas)</li> <li>Curiosity and willingness to learn syndicated data tools (e.g., Nielsen, Circana) and visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI)</li> <li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail</li> <li>Clear written and verbal communication skills</li> <li>Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a collaborative team environment</li></ul> Preferred<ul> <li>Exposure to SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI, or other analytical tools through coursework or internships</li> <li>Coursework or internship experience involving large datasets or data storytelling</li> <li>Familiarity with retail, CPG, or consumer insights concepts</li></ul>  The expected salary range for this position is between $75,000 - $95,000 per year based on a full-time schedule.  Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting the actual salary.
