Grand Canyon Conservancy seeks an Indigenous Engagement Manager, a new position created to facilitate and deepen the relationships between the eleven tribes associated with Grand Canyon, GCC, and Grand Canyon National Park.The Indigenous Engagement Manager will be a key contact with a range of Indigenous community members, partner organizations, and National Park Service staff. Through respectful and creative partnerships, they will lead initiatives that ensure indigenous voices play a vital role in shaping the future of GCC’s and Grand Canyon National Park’s programs. The Indigenous Engagement Manager will design and implement projects that:•    Engage tribal members through deep and durable avenues to provide input on programs and interpretive initiatives across the park•    Increase outreach and community building to effectively integrate indigenous voices and tribal perspectives across all GCC-supported programs and activities•    Create new frameworks for tribal internships and other career development programs The Indigenous Engagement Manager reports to the Chief Operating Officer and works closely with Visitor Programs, Marketing, and Philanthropy teams to advance programmatic goals. This is a one-year, grant-funded position, and is fully funded through December 31, 2026, with additional funding anticipated for 2027. This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position. Applicants must be located within 6 hours of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim and should expect to travel 40% of their time. Temporary employee housing is provided when traveling to the Grand Canyon, and a stipend for travel to tribal communities is provided. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Indigenous Engagement Manager will lead GCC’s indigenous community outreach, engagement, and program development, building on vital work to date, while simultaneously piloting new initiatives that can be shared with other parks as models for their indigenous engagement initiatives. Duties may include, but are not limited to:Program Management·    Increase direct tribal outreach and create durable methods for indigenous engagement, ensuring tribal priorities and perspectives are integrated across GCC programs and projects at Grand Canyon.·    Develop new models for acknowledging historical narratives, uplifting stories of resilience, and amplifying contemporary tribal connections to the Canyon.·    Create frameworks for career pathway development related to Grand Canyon, public lands, and co-stewardship for a wider audience of indigenous and tribal stakeholders.·    Evaluate and synthesize learnings, developing recommendations for future program opportunities and partnering with GCC’s Philanthropy team to raise donor awareness and support.·    Oversee program budget and workplan development, including regularly reporting against quantitative and qualitative goals.·    Partner with GCC’s Visitor Programs, Marketing, Interpretive Sales, and Philanthropy teams to incorporate tribal perspectives in GCC programs and to identify opportunities for new or innovative programs that deepen engagement with tribes associated with Grand Canyon. Partnership and NPS Relations·    Develop deep, trusting, and durable relationships with new and existing tribal stakeholders, including members of Grand Canyon National Park’s Intertribal Working Group. ·    Partner with NPS Tribal Affairs Program, Desert View Intertribal Cultural Heritage Site staff, and other NPS representatives to collaboratively advance co-stewardship and uplift indigenous voices at Grand Canyon. ·    Identify new partnership opportunities with third-party organizations and connected communities to advance program development and expand impact.·    Ensure compliance with GCC’s Operating Agreements with Grand Canyon National Park. TOTAL COMPENSATIONThis is a full-time, exempt, benefit-eligible position.  The salary rate is 80 K annually. We operate at a high level of excellence, utilizing our resources to their best and fullest potential.·    Education: We are a dynamic learning organization uniquely positioned to cultivate the “awe” of the Grand Canyon.·    Service: We embrace our role as a valued partner of the National Park Service at Grand Canyon National Park and will provide the highest level of excellence in every interaction with employees, partners, visitors, supporters, and donors. ·    Connection: We foster a sense of wonder and adventure for the Grand Canyon.Grand Canyon Conservancy is the official nonprofit partner of Grand Canyon National Park. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS·    Professional and/or lived experience working with tribal nations, Indigenous communities, and Indigenous-led organizations. ·    Experience fostering relationships and collaborating with multiple Indigenous communities and other stakeholders on diverse programs and engagements·    Experience developing programmatic partnerships with non-profit organizations, community groups, or government agenciesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND CHARACTERISTICS·    Established relationships with Indigenous nations, communities, or organizations across the Colorado Plateau. ·    Experience communicating and advocating for the interests of Indigenous communities to multiple audiences.·    Demonstrated understanding of relevant Public Lands management agencies, policies, and co-stewardship models, and associated practices for engagement.·    Knowledge of and familiarity with indigenous land stewardship practices and beliefs. ·    Experience developing and leading trainings and programs that support effective engagement and partnership with Indigenous communities.·    Ability to operate independently, showing exceptional discernment in managing risks and challenges. ·    Demonstrated skills with MS365 software systems, including Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.·    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.·    Commitment to strengthening a culture of inclusion within and across teams.
