The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing maintenance and automation strategies that ensure equipment availability, reduce downtime, and support safe and efficient production. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise in body shop automation systems, and a commitment to operational excellence.</p><p>You Will:</p><p>· Lead the design, integration and improvement of engineering solutions for controls engineering equipment and manufacturing functions.</p><p>· Lead the development of controls solution for PLC-driven robotics cells, servo-actuated mechatronics systems, and high-volume technical process equipment for Lucid products and contribute to the standardization of engineering methodologies across all manufacturing product lines and functions.</p><p>· Oversee the health and diagnostics of automated BIW systems, including robots, welding cells, conveyors, clamps, and vision systems.</p><p>· Lead the development of company level, factory level and line/machine level controls standards and specifications for application by the internal equipment development team and external partners.</p><p>· Lead the development of controls architecture for production in alignment with manufacturing objectives and develop engineering solutions for data management and communication networks.</p><p>· Lead the implementation controls engineering tools for quality traceability.</p><p>· Lead the development of engineering solutions for subsystems, including conveyors, robots, MES.</p><p>· Implement ANSI/RIA 15.06/OSHA compliant and reliable control safety systems for safeguarding robots, conveyors and other high volume manufacturing equipment.</p><p>· Coordinate troubleshooting and support for PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and safety systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Fanuc, ABB, etc.). Troubleshooting and support for PLCs, HMIs</p><p>· Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance programs for BIW equipment and utilities.</p><p>· Ensure alignment of maintenance and automation strategies with production demands, model changes, and shop takt time.</p><p>· Manage asset lifecycle planning, spare parts inventory, and reliability engineering activities.</p><p>· Lead a team of maintenance supervisors, technicians, and engineers across multiple shifts.</p><p>· Set performance goals, monitor KPIs, and coach the team to improve safety, equipment uptime, and skill levels.</p><p>· Develop technical training programs to upskill team members on joining technologies, robotics, and controls.</p><p>· Monitor OEE, MTTR, and MTBF metrics to drive performance improvements.</p><p>· Lead root cause analysis for critical downtime events and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.</p><p>· Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to support equipment upgrades and retooling projects.</p><p>· Support the integration of new equipment and technologies during vehicle program launches.</p><p>· Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations (e.g., LOTO, electrical safety, FLS).</p><p>· Maintain documentation and audit readiness for internal standards and external certifications (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 9001).</p><p>· Implement and sustain 5S and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) systems in the shop.</p><p>· Develop and manage the BIW maintenance budget including labor, parts, and external services.</p><p>· Optimize the use of contractors and suppliers to support maintenance activities while managing cost and quality.</p><p>· Track expenditures and identify opportunities for cost reduction through energy savings, reliability improvements, or technology upgrades.</p><p>· Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering for new product introductions, launch ramp-up, and handover processes.</p><p>· Support operations and quality teams in resolving production bottlenecks caused by equipment issues.</p><p>· Participate in launch readiness reviews, risk assessments, and design for maintainability discussions.</p><p>---</p><p>You Bring:</p><p>· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).</p><p>· 10+ years of progressive experience in automotive manufacturing machinery maintenance with at least 3 years in a managerial role.</p><p>· Strong understanding of BIW joining technologies (spot welding, MIG/MAG welding, clinching, hemming, adhesive, vision and laser welding).</p><p>· Proven experience managing automated systems and robotics in high-volume production.</p><p>· Knowledge of TPM, CMMS systems and lean manufacturing principles.</p><p>· Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.</p><p>· Flexibility to support off-shift and weekend operations as required.</p><p>*** This role requires Body in White automated machinery maintenance experience.
