Superintendent Engineer, Propulsion

We are now looking for a Propulsion Superintendent to join our team in the USA.&nbsp;What you will be doing:&nbsp;As a Propulsion Superintendent Engineer, you will be responsible for leading complex field service assignments, ensuring technical excellence, and supporting both customers and internal teams. Your role will encompass troubleshooting, repairs, supervision, reporting, and driving continuous improvement.&nbsp;You will focus on these responsibilities: <ul><li>Carry out complex field service work activities related to propulsion equipment, including repair and maintenance tasks.</li><li>Perform advanced troubleshooting on site to isolate problems and determine root causes of failures in propulsion mechanical and hydraulic equipment.</li><li>Lead and manage yourself and/or a team while on site, coordinating with the customer to ensure proper scheduling and execution of the agreed scope.</li><li>Maintain detailed documentation and provide comprehensive technical reports, including measurements, photos, investigations, and descriptions of work performed.</li><li>Perform internal and external progress reporting on the status of assigned work.</li><li>Ensure that all activities are executed according to Wärtsilä Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines and in alignment with customer site procedures.</li><li>Track and report working hours, spare parts usage, and other job‑related resources.</li><li>Proactively advise customers on available products, upgrades, and service solutions.</li><li>Provide internal and external reporting according to Wärtsilä standards and perform site audits as required.</li><li>Execute additional duties that may arise due to changing operational needs, provided they remain aligned with the general scope and level of responsibility of the role.</li></ul>&nbsp;To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:&nbsp;<ul><li>Prior experience in a similar role within the marine industry (advantageous).</li><li>Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.</li><li>A proactive and hands‑on approach to problem‑solving.</li><li>Strong time‑management and organizational skills, capable of effectively managing a dynamic workload.</li><li>Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.</li><li>Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality work.</li></ul>&nbsp;As an ideal candidate, we expect you to have:&nbsp;<ul><li>High integrity and a strong focus on customer satisfaction.</li><li>A passion for delivering high‑quality service and supporting team development.</li><li>Confidence in leading by example and providing guidance to junior colleagues.</li><li>A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.</li><li>A continuous improvement attitude and readiness to refine tools, processes, and ways of working.</li><li>Strong technical curiosity and willingness to maintain and grow expertise in propulsion systems.</li></ul>&nbsp;Physical &amp; Mental/Reasoning Demands:&nbsp;These are the physical and mental requirements of the position as it is typically performed:<ul><li>Vision: Close; Distance; Depth.</li><li>Color Perception (Red, Green, Amber).</li><li>Hearing/Listening.</li><li>Clear Speech.</li><li>Touching: Dexterity; Hand; Finger.</li><li>Ability to Mount and Dismount Forklift/Truck.</li><li>Pushing/Pulling/Stoop/Kneel/Crouch or Crawl.</li><li>Lifting: 45 Pounds; 5 Times per shift.</li><li>Carrying: 25 Pounds; 5 Times per shift.</li><li>Driving (local/over the road).</li><li>Bend/Squat/Sit and Stand for a prolonged period of time.</li><li>Climbing / Balance.</li></ul>&nbsp;Work Environment:&nbsp;The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:<ul><li>Works Alone / Works with Others.</li><li>Verbal Contact with Others; Face-to-Face Contact.</li><li>Inside / Outside.</li><li>Extreme Heat / Extreme Cold.</li><li>Noise.</li><li>Mechanical Equipment.</li><li>Electrical Equipment.</li><li>Pressurized Equipment.</li><li>Moving Objects.</li><li>High Places.</li><li>Fumes/Odors.</li><li>Hazardous Materials.</li><li>Dirt/Dust.</li></ul>&nbsp;Travel Requirements:&nbsp;This position requires a&nbsp;75% travel commitment, encompassing both domestic and international locations, including onshore and offshore sites.
