Working collaboratively with domain experts and under the guidance of senior team members, you will be hands-on in requirements identification, design, implementation, and deployment of tooling that leverages cutting-edge AI technologies and Nuro’s compliance data libraries. Your work will support tasks such as regulation classification, behavior feedback, driving requirement assessment, and regulatory query/knowledge retrieval. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience at the intersection of AI and Systems compliance in the AV industry.About the Work<ul><li>Design and implement effective prompt engineering strategies to guide LLMs in generating actionable responses for Systems compliance tasks.   </li><li>Develop Python code to interact with LLM APIs, access databases, and process inputs/outputs.</li><li>Collaborate with the team to build a deployable user interface and evaluate the tool’s effectiveness through iterative testing/refinement.</li><li>Regularly present progress, findings, and challenges to the project team.</li></ul>About You<ul><li>Pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.</li><li>Experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) with a focus on prompting Large Language Models (LLMs), and reviewing and evaluating outputs to ensure quality and interpretability.</li><li>Ability to analyze the intent and applicability of laws, regulations, ordinances, acts, statutes, etc. in the scope of a specific system.</li><li>Strong problem solving, programming, and data analytics skills in Python and SQL.</li></ul>Bonus Points<ul><li>Understanding of the Vehicle/Transportation Code (driving laws) of any US state.</li><li>Experience with configuration management tools for requirements, documentation, and software (such as Jama, Polarion, Jira, Confluence, Git).</li><li>Utilized Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques to enhance LLM outputs through connected databases.</li><li>Experience using LLMs in regulatory environments.</li><li>Familiarity with neural network and natural language processing (NLP) architectures.</li><li>Familiarity with ML applications and techniques, such as pre-processing, classification, and categorization tasks.</li><li>Ability to apply systems engineering concepts of requirements, verification, and validation.</li><li>Front-end/UI development experience.</li></ul>Note: This is a summer internship that will require in-office presence of 3-4 days a week in our Mountain View, CA location. For this position, the reasonably expected pay range is between $11,500 to $14,000/month.
