The Finance Intern will join the Finance &amp; Strategy function at a Series B-stage advanced battery manufacturing startup during a period of rapid scale, capital deployment, and operational complexity. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, the intern will work on high-impact projects spanning financial modeling, manufacturing economics, capital planning, systems automation, and strategic decision support. This role is designed for a highly motivated, analytically rigorous individual who wants direct exposure to building a world-class, AI-enabled finance function from the ground up. The intern will operate as a true thought partner to the Head of Finance, with visibility across the C-suite into board-level analysis, fundraising dynamics, and the financial infrastructure required to scale a capital-intensive business.ResponsibilitiesBuild and refine financial models supporting:<ul><li>Manufacturing unit economics (BOM, yield, throughput, labor, overhead absorption)</li><li>Capacity expansion and capex planning</li><li>Long-range operating and cash flow forecasts</li></ul>Partner with the Head of Finance to design and implement AI-first finance workflows, including:<ul><li>Automated reporting and variance analysis complete with dashboard visuals</li><li>Scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis</li><li>AI-assisted forecasting, planning, and insight generation</li></ul>Support post-Series B financial execution, including:<ul><li>Budgeting and cash burn management</li><li>Investor and board reporting materials</li><li>KPI definition and dashboard development</li></ul>Analyze data across engineering, operations, and supply chain to translate technical realities into financial insightsAssist in evaluating strategic initiatives such as:<ul><li>New manufacturing lines or facilities</li><li>Make vs. buy decisions</li><li>Supplier negotiations and cost-down roadmaps</li></ul>Help select, implement, and integrate finance systems (ERP, FP&amp;A tools, data stack) appropriate for a scaling manufacturing companyConduct ad hoc analyses to support executive decision-making in a fast-moving environmentRequirementsMust-have QualificationsCurrently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative fieldExceptional analytical and problem-solving ability; comfortable working with incomplete or ambiguous dataStrong financial fundamentals, including:<ul><li>Financial statements and cash flow mechanics</li><li>Basic corporate finance and valuation concepts</li></ul>Advanced proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets, including complex models and sensitivity analysisDemonstrated ability to learn quickly and operate independently with minimal oversightClear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts succinctlyHigh ownership mentality, intellectual curiosity, and comfort working directly with senior leadershipStrong interest in hard tech, manufacturing, and building real-world products at scaleNice-to-have QualificationsPrior experience in:<ul><li>Investment banking, private equity, venture capital, consulting, or startup finance</li><li>Manufacturing, hardware, energy, or industrial companies</li></ul>Familiarity with:<ul><li>Unit economics modeling for physical products</li><li>Capex-intensive business models</li><li>Cost accounting and inventory concepts</li></ul>Experience using or building with AI tools (e.g., LLMs, Python, SQL, automation platforms) to improve analytical workflowsExposure to ERP, FP&amp;A, or data visualization tools (e.g., NetSuite, Anaplan, Looker, Tableau)Programming or data skills (Python, SQL, R) applied to financial or operational analysisEntrepreneurial background (founder, early startup employee, or side projects)Long-term interest in pursuing a career in startup finance, operations leadership, or founding a company
