California Water ServiceJob Description:The Engineering Intern is responsible for assisting with projects and tasks across the State of California, within the assigned Engineering department. The position will provide support of projects, regulatory requirements, and Company goals, and may work on small projects, as well as large projects under the guidance of a project manager within the Engineering Department.INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>You must be a student for the entire duration of the internship</li><li>One‑year commitment from June 1, 2026, through May 28, 2027</li><li>Summer - full time (32-40 hours per week)</li><li>Fall/Spring/Winter - based on school schedule</li><li>100% on-site, no remote option</li><li>Eligibility for employment in the US is required without sponsorship (ex. OPT, F1, etc.)</li></ul>Capital Delivery Interns – Civil, Construction, Electrical and Engineering (Multiple Disciplines)<ul><li>Provides support including budgeting, planning, designing, permitting, bidding, and managing construction of capital projects.  These projects include wells, tanks, pump stations, pipelines, treatment plants, power distribution, motor control, instrumentation, communications motor controls, emergency standby generators, SCADA and PLC control systems, and radio communications. Projects may be new installations or modifications to existing facilities. </li><li>Performs water meter service sizing calculations and in accordance with design standards</li><li>Reviews district operations water facility design drawings</li><li>Related field work travel, vendor presentations, and assigned classes</li><li>Provides support for procurement for design and construction projects</li><li>Provides support property acquisition projects</li><li>General tasks including administrative tasks, status reporting, attending group meetings, field visits and data gathering and processing</li></ul>Main Replacement Program Interns – Civil Engineering<ul><li>Provides support including budgeting, planning, designing, permitting, bidding, and managing construction of pipeline-based capital projects.  Projects may be new installations or modifications to existing facilities. </li><li>Reviewing district operations water facility design drawings</li><li>Related field work travel, vendor presentations, and assigned classes</li><li>General tasks including administrative tasks, status reporting, attending group meetings, field visits and data gathering and processing</li></ul>Asset Management Interns – Engineering (Multiple Disciplines)<ul><li>Responsible to support a variety of capital projects and infrastructure reliability programs</li><li>Participates in large water system improvement projects under the guidance of Project Engineers and Supervising Engineers</li><li>Leads smaller projects, completing the design, bidding, procurement, and construction management of the project</li><li>Provides support including Asset Condition Monitoring and data analysis on asset data such as pumping equipment, generators, control valves, storage tanks, flow meters, control equipment, and other assets</li><li>Develops engineering estimates and budgets to support capital improvement planning</li><li>Performs engineering analyses</li><li>Utilizes enterprise resource systems to support business activities</li><li>Presents project findings to senior leadership prior to the end of an assignment</li><li>Assist in a variety of field activities such as job walks and inspections</li><li>General tasks including administrative tasks, status reporting, attending group meetings, field visits and data gathering and processing</li></ul>Operations Engineering Interns (Hydraulic Modeling and Analysis) – Engineering (Multiple Disciplines)<ul><li>Works alongside experienced engineers in reviewing water system operations including information gathering, data analytics and theoretical hydraulic calculations.</li><li>Supports the team and Company with conducting research on existing infrastructure using electronic databases, maps, drawings, photos, and paper files.</li><li>Will be exposed to the use of hydraulic models including the interpretation of mass data sets from modeling results.</li><li>Reviews system documentation and information for updates to maps and schematics.</li><li>Related fieldwork travel and assigned trainings.</li><li>General tasks including administrative tasks, status reporting, attending group meetings, field visits and data gathering and processing</li></ul>Capital Planning Intern – Engineering (Multiple Disciplines)<ul><li>Supports development and maintenance of Capital Improvement Plan</li><li>Assists in preparing project justification materials including visuals and maps and responses to data requests.</li><li>Helps evaluate preliminary project alternatives by reviewing scopes, costs, schedules, risks, and impacts.</li><li>Compiles and analyzes historical project cost and schedule data to support estimating improvements and trend analysis.</li><li>Coordinates with various groups and compiles information from various sources.  Conducts quality review of data.</li><li>Supports workflow automation, documentation and process-improvement efforts</li><li>General tasks including administrative tasks, status reporting, attending group meetings, field visits and data gathering and processing</li></ul>Capital Budgeting Intern – Civil Engineering<ul><li>Reviewing and analyzing capital project data from past capital projects</li><li>Scheduling, resource planning and cost development for future projects</li><li>Supporting coordination between the Planning and Budgeting team in developing the Infrastructure Improvement Plan</li><li>Supporting the capital budget change management process</li><li>General tasks including administrative tasks, status reporting, attending group meetings, and data gathering and processing</li></ul>Enterprise Asset Management / Geographic Information System Application Intern– Multiple Disciplines<ul><li>Compiles and reports data for water infrastructure analysis and capital planning.</li><li>Assists with research and analysis, performs queries, prepares reports, and analyzes spatial data.</li><li>Develops and updates various maps for exhibits, reports, and meetings at different scales and layouts through the use of GIS/ desktop software (ArcGIS) and standard templates.</li><li>Works with staff on the maintenance of GIS and EAM data.</li><li>Reads and interprets construction drawings (asbuilts) to accurately create and edit GIS and EAM data.</li><li>Engages with field staff to resolve issues with construction drawings (asbuilts)</li><li>May prepare and deliver presentations and attend various meetings.
