A typical week could involve designing detailed 3D in CATIA, making calculations to support design choices, talking with (and selecting) suppliers to manufacture your designs, and prototyping or testing in the workshop.</span></div><div><span style="font-size:11pt;">Please attach or link a brief portfolio that highlights specific examples of significant and relevant accomplishments.</span></div><br><br><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Mechanical product design and development primarily for Lightship’s canopy lift (custom electric linear actuator) system, but may include other electromechanical systems, closures mechanisms, and user-facing mechanisms</li><li>Independently own parts and assemblies through concept, prototyping, test, and mass production phases</li><li>Select manufacturing methods appropriate for program volume and cost targets</li><li>Develop and release 3D/2D data and documentation</li><li>Be the primary technical contact for suppliers</li><li>Plan and carry out component, subsystem, and vehicle level testing to validate designs and identify opportunities for design improvement</li><li>Support the physical build of parts and assemblies at the Lightship factory in Broomfield, Colorado (occasional travel will apply)</li></ul><h3>Minimum Qualifications</h3><ul><li>B.S. Engineering, or equivalent practical experience</li><li>5+ years of relevant experience designing and engineering similar products, from concept to production manufacturing</li><li>Highly skilled in 3D CAD - Lightship uses CATIA (v5, v6, or 3DX)</li><li>Kinematics or machine design experience</li><li>Electromechanical system design experience</li><li>Developed at least one product or assembly from concept to production</li><li>Clear and effective verbal and written communication style</li></ul><h3>Preferred Experience</h3><ul><li>Experience as technical lead for a project(s)</li><li>Experience in design and development of vehicle, aerospace, or marine exterior components, mechanisms, and lightweight materials (i.e. access doors, trim/fascia parts, sealing, glazing)</li><li>Experience in designing modern lightweight structures, including adhesive bonding, composites, and plastics</li><li>Experience in designing vehicle or aerospace closures (i.e. primary doors, trunk, hood)</li><li>Led cost reduction project(s)</li></ul><br><div><b>Onsite/Hybrid Work</b></div><div>Hybrid roles at Lightship require onsite work from our offices Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
