With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.</p><h2>Overview</h2><p>Joby is seeking a talented electrical engineer to join our team designing all-electric aircraft and charging systems. This engineer will work closely with mechanical, software, and other cross-functional teams. You'll be taking ownership of key electrical subsystems and printed-circuit-boards from design through prototyping and to product. This is a hands-on position. Optimizing designs for reliability and efficiency will be essential. This position will be based in our San Carlos, CA location.</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Create clear and readable schematics for digital and mixed-signal printed-circuit-boards</li> <li>Component selection for maximum reliability and efficiency</li> <li>Investigate modern technologies for power and data transmission/management </li> <li>Work with PCB designers to create reliable layouts</li> <li>Design, debug, and commission complex systems with diverse elements, including mixed signal PCBs, sensors, and high voltage.</li> <li>Write requirements, participate in DFMEAs + create and carry out test and validation plans</li></ul><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline</li> <li>2+ years of working experience in relevant industry, including internships</li> <li>Strong EE fundamentals, including familiarity with:</li> <ul>  <li>Power conversion (linear and switching regulators)</li>  <li>Signal conditioning and conversion (ADCs, filters)</li>  <li>Discrete semiconductor design (FETs, BJTs, Diodes)</li> </ul> <li>Schematic capture and PCB design</li> <li>Experience with component selection</li> <li>Hands-on experience with building and debugging hardware</li> <li>Proven ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team spanning firmware to mechanical engineering to supply chain.</li> <li>Great communication skills</li></ul><p> </p><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>Advanced degree in relevant discipline </li> <li>3+ years of working experience in relevant industry </li> <li>Familiarity with Altium Designer</li> <li>Design-for-reliability, including use of DFMEA and fault trees</li> <li>Designing for high EMI environments</li> <li>Familiarity with high voltage DC and/or EV charging systems</li> <li>Exposure to regulatory certification</li></ul><p> </p><h2>Additional Information</h2><p>Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
