For information please visit <a href="http://www.kcc.us.com">www.kcc.us.com</a>Responsibilities<ul><li>Collaborate with scientists and engineers to develop the technical aspects of atmospheric peril hazard and impacts models by applying state-of-the-art data processing and machine learning techniques</li><li>Collect and analyze large data sets of atmospheric data (e.g., numerical weather prediction, radar, satellite, etc.)</li><li>Compile related literature and datasets required for model development</li><li>Conduct model sensitivity and validation tests</li><li>Provide documentation for technical publications</li><li>Conduct post disaster field surveys after major events</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>PhD in geophysical science (atmospheric science preferred), physics, applied mathematics, or related field</li><li>Knowledge and experience in atmospheric processes related to synoptic scale, mesoscale, and convective scale weather systems </li><li>Knowledge and experience working with remote sensing data</li><li>Knowledge and experience in advanced probability and statistical methods as well as machine learning</li><li>Programming experience in a widely used language like Python</li><li>Ability to work independently and in a team environment </li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills including an eye for professional presentation</li><li>Ability to travel within the US or internationally with little advance notice</li><li>Experience with GIS software (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, etc.) is a plus</li><li>Knowledge of C# programming language a plus</li><li>Experience in catastrophe modeling a plus</li></ul><ul></ul>
