With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.</p><h2>Overview</h2><p>Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, self motivated, detail-oriented Equipment Engineer to design, develop, and maintain specialized fixtures, aids, equipment and machinery for the Composite Rapid Development Department. This role plays a critical part in enabling rapid prototyping, testing, and development activities. The ideal candidate has a strong technical expertise in mechanical and electrical design, hands-on troubleshooting abilities, strong problem-solving and analytical thinking, excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced R&amp;D environment.</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Design, develop, and fabricate custom equipment, tooling, fixtures, and aids to support prototype builds and light production that meet engineering tolerances while focusing on technician usability and ergonomics</li> <li>Create, review, and modify mechanical and electrical drawings for new equipment, assembly fixturing, tools, and aids tailored around advanced composite fabrication and assembly</li> <li>Ensure designs comply with safety, quality, and Industrial standards </li> <li>Troubleshooting equipment failures, diagnose, repair, and resolve </li> <li>Support remote troubleshooting with external vendors for repairs and spare parts</li></ul><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent required</li> <li>5 plus years of experience in equipment design, troubleshooting, maintenance in a manufacturing or industrial environment </li> <li>Highly proficient in 3D CAD software </li> <li>Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems </li> <li>Ability to assist in fabrication/assembly of designed equipment, fixtures, aids </li></ul><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>Experience with GD&amp;T</li> <li>Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles </li> <li>Data analysis tools familiarity </li> <li>Indepth composite fabrication knowledge; materials, consumables, techniques </li></ul><h2>Additional Information</h2><p>Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
