We strive to transform the global automotive market by enabling low-cost and long-range EVs as a first step towards net-zero sustainability in the near future. Core Responsibilities::1.Process Development &amp; Failure Mode Mitigation<ul><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Lead Formation process development for 60Ah pouch cells, translating lab-scale insights into manufacturable recipes</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Conduct Process FMEA  to identify potential failure modes in the formation workflow—spanning electrolyte wetting, temperature control, current response, degassing, and cell sealing.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Quantify process risk severity, occurrence, and detection to prioritize control actions and process improvements.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Apply Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to trace system-level cell performance issues (e.g., plating, voltage hysteresis drift, impedance rise) to specific process, material, or equipment causes.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Lead cross-functional root-cause investigations integrating electrochemical, mechanical, and process data.</li></ul> 2. Testing &amp; Cell Qualification<ul><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Develop and execute statistically robust DOE plans to study the effects of formation variables on cell lifetime and degradation.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Define qualification metrics including first-cycle efficiency, voltage-shift behavior, impedance evolution, and plating onset thresholds.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Automate test data pipelines to extract diagnostic fingerprints for qualification and failure prediction.</li></ul> 3. Degradation Mechanism Studies<ul><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Identify and model key degradation pathways (Li plating, SEI/CEI growth, transition-metal dissolution, gas evolution, etc.) as a function of formation and cycling history.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Perform electrochemical characterizations and post-mortem correlation to quantify reaction- and diffusion-limited losses.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Establish predictive links between formation signatures and field lifetime performance using statistical reliability models</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Support design-of-experiments to isolate electrochemical vs. mechanical degradation contributions under thermal, C-rate, and voltage stress tests.</li></ul> Requirements:<ul><li style="list-style-type:disc;">B.S. degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science OR an experience in a similarly relevant field with 2+ years of industrial experience.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Previous experience in battery cell development, process development, or manufacturing environment preferred</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Able to safely work in a manufacturing setting.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Strong verbal and written communication skills</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Self-starter with an ability to operate on his/her own initiative</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Creative problem solver and able to juggle multiple projects at any given time </li></ul>Location &amp; Benefits: San Leandro, CA.
