Job Description:<h3>Job Summary</h3>The Environmental Health &amp; Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing EHS programs across Nextpower’s’ manufacturing and warehouse operations, while providing occasional safety support for field construction activities, R&amp;D and Nextpower local facilities. This role will drive continuous improvement in safety culture, compliance, and risk reduction in high-volume industrial environments such as production, electrical testing, material handling, quality control, and equipment maintenance, all of which require strong coordination and safety oversight.<h3>Key Responsibilities</h3>Program Development &amp; Compliance<ul><li>Develop, implement, and manage EHS programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with Nextracker standards and applicable OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and EPA regulations.</li><li>Maintain and improve core programs, including IIPP, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, powered industrial trucks, cranes/rigging, hot work, ergonomics, chemical management, and waste handling.</li><li>Support ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems as applicable.</li></ul>Risk Assessment &amp; Hazard Control<ul><li>Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments in manufacturing areas.</li><li>Identify hazards and implement effective engineering and administrative controls.</li><li>Collaborate with internal teams and contractors to ensure compliance and proper documentation.</li></ul>Training &amp; Competency Development<ul><li>Design and deliver safety training programs and onboarding sessions for manufacturing and field personnel.</li><li>Develop training materials, toolbox talks, SOPs, and visual standards.</li><li>Maintain accurate training records in EHS management systems.</li></ul>Incident Management &amp; Continuous Improvement<ul><li>Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, and property damage.</li><li>Perform root cause analyses (5-Why, fishbone, etc.) and ensure timely completion of corrective actions.</li><li>Track and report EHS performance metrics (TRIR, DART, leading indicators) and identify trends for improvement.</li></ul>Emergency Preparedness &amp; Safety Culture<ul><li>Develop and maintain Emergency Action Plans and Fire Prevention Plans.</li><li>Conduct drills and ensure site readiness.</li><li>Co-chair the Safety Committee and promote proactive engagement, observation, and recognition programs.</li></ul>Field Construction Support<ul><li>Provide EHS oversight, training, and auditing support at field construction sites as needed.</li><li>Ensure compliance with construction safety standards (fall protection, confined space, electrical safety, crane/rigging).</li><li>Assist with pre-task planning, JHAs, and contractor safety coordination.</li></ul>Documentation &amp; Systems<ul><li>Maintain accurate EHS documentation, including inspections, incidents, training, and compliance records.</li></ul>Utilize EHS management software to manage incidents, audits, dashboards, and compliance workflows.<h3>Qualifications</h3>Required:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health &amp; Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).</li><li>Minimum 5 years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing or heavy industry (e.g., electrical components, metal fabrication, plastics, assembly).</li><li>Strong working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and Cal/OSHA regulations.</li><li>Proven experience developing and implementing EHS programs and safety training.</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficient in root cause analysis and data trending.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills across all levels of the organization.</li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and EHS management systems.</li><li>Valid driver’s license and ability to travel occasionally for field assignments.</li><li>Ability to stand/walk for extended periods, climb ladders/stairs, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs while using required PPE.</li></ul>Preferred:<ul><li>Experience with ISO 45001/14001 management systems.</li><li>Contractor or supplier safety management experience.</li><li>Lean manufacturing / Kaizen / Six Sigma background.</li><li>Bilingual (Spanish, Vietnamese, or other) communication skills.</li></ul><h3>Key Competencies</h3><ul><li>Strong leadership and coaching skills.</li><li>Proactive problem-solver with attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to influence and drive culture change.</li><li>Collaborative mindset and effective cross-functional communication.</li><li>Results-driven with focus on safety excellence and compliance.</li></ul><h3>Work Environment &amp; Travel</h3><ul><li>Primary work environment: manufacturing and warehouse facilities.</li><li>Occasional travel to field construction sites and contract manufacturing partners and Nextpower facilities.</li><li>Exposure to industrial noise, machinery, and environmental conditions typical of manufacturing operations.</li></ul>Nextpower offers a comprehensive benefits package.
