With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.</p><h2>Overview</h2><p>Joby Aviation is seeking a highly experienced and talented individual to improve and optimize our R&amp;D  CNC programming activities. Joby is working towards the goal of development, certification and production of a world changing eVTOL aircraft. As the Senior CNC Programmer, this individual will have overall responsibility for development, implementation, and training of the 3, 5-axis and Lathe CNC programming processes for the R&amp;D Machine Shop.</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Will be responsible for answering questions and working with 2 other machinists over Second shift.</li> <li>Overlap and communicate with day shift team to discuss priorities and handoffs between shifts.</li> <li>Ability to communicate job priorities to Second shift.</li> <li>Prototype machining via creating and editing CNC programs that support the machining of a wide range of R&amp;D, Aircraft, and Tooling components.</li> <li>Occasional Conformable Flight Articles.</li> <li>Will be utilizing Fusion360 as the primary CAD/CAM software to write programs.</li> <li>Participates in machining parts on the machine with Haas and Fanuc controllers.  </li> <li>Able to operate mills, lathes, drill presses, saws, grinders, and a variety of other equipment.</li> <li>Able to program,  set up, and operate 3 axis, 5 axis mills and live tooling lathes to create complex aircraft components, fixtures, and tooling, from rough stock to finished part.</li> <li>Synchronize and create machining process development &amp; optimization (part setup/fixturing, machining strategy/order of operations, tool selection, speed/feed process parameter selection)</li> <li>Communicate with Programmers, Machinists, and Team Leaders to identify, select, and procure appropriate tooling for job specific applications (based on part material, geometry, features, tolerances, system rigidity, and equipment capability)</li> <li>Continuously improve design and production efforts by working closely with the engineering team</li> <li>Perform inspections and measurements of product dimensions using basic Quality Control measuring tools, probing routines, calipers, micrometer, depth gauges, and other measuring equipment.</li> <li>Demonstrates ability to document and communicate well within the team environment.</li> <li>Demonstrate continuous improvement of a well-organized and safe environment for all workspaces.</li> <li>Able to communicate GD&amp;T effectively to other machinists and programmers.</li> <li>Prioritizes quality on completed parts, holds tight tolerances, performs inspection of own parts and can inspect co-worker’s work.</li></ul><p> </p><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED Equivalent</li> <li>Work Shift - Monday - Friday 3:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.</li> <li>5-7 Years experience as a Programmer with prior or combined machinist experience (proven ability to program, setup and operate CNC equipment)</li> <li>Ability to program and machine using Fusion 360 CAM software in 3, 5 axis milling and live tooling lathe CNC</li> <li>Capable of both verbal and written communication and collaboration effectively both  in a team environment and with engineering</li> <li>Proficient in GD&amp;T and ability to read blueprints and other design documents as well as interpret verbal design instructions</li> <li>Knowledgeable about integrated probing systems</li> <li>Knowledgeable in a variety of materials and fundamental concepts of machining techniques and mechanics [stress, strain, etc.]</li> <li>Willingness to work outside your comfort zone, in a fast paced non-traditional manufacturing environment</li> <li>Assembly experience and working knowledge of basic fasteners and hand tools</li></ul><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>10-15 years experience as a Programmer</li> <li>15-20 years experience as a Machinist</li> <li>Fusion 360, HSM Works, MasterCAM</li> <li>Experience in a fast paced, high variety machine shop environment </li> <li>Able to use a manual CMM</li> <li>Experience with Polyworks or PC-DMIS</li> <li>Experience with Lang or similar zero point workholding  </li> <li>Experience with Dassault Systemes Catia</li> <li>Proficiency in FUSION 360 5-axis programming  </li> <li>Experience with company chat systems such as Slack and Microsoft Teams</li> <li>Experience with planning and job ticketing softwares such as Jira</li></ul><p> </p><h2>Additional Information</h2><p>The target base pay for this position is $46-$67/hr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.</p><p>Joby also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with a company match, an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and more.</p><p> </p>
