As an integral part of the Finance &amp; Accounting department, you will join forces with the Associate Director of Finance &amp; Accounting (to whom you will also report) in our continued effort to inspire people to eat more plants! We are looking for candidates who are passionate about financial integrity, process optimization, and scaling accounting operations in a fast-paced e-commerce environment. Many team members choose to come in more often - it’s a great way to stay inspired and engaged with the team.</li></ul>On the Plate<ul><li>Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.</li><li>Support accurate accounting for inventory, COGS, and product-related costs, ensuring alignment with financial reporting and operational realities.</li><li>Develop and maintain internal control structures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP.</li><li>Implement workflow improvements within the ERP system to increase efficiency in transaction processing.</li><li>Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, fixed assets, cost accounting, and sales tax compliance.</li><li>Work with external stakeholders such as auditors, third-party contractors, and the parent company.</li><li>Assist with ad-hoc projects and tasks as necessary.</li></ul>Main Ingredients for the Role<ul><li>4+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least one year in a supervisory or management role.</li><li>Experience in ecommerce, DTC, manufacturing, or inventory-based businesses, including exposure to COGS, inventory accounting, or cost accounting.</li><li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.</li><li>Able to commute to the office in Chicago</li><li>CPA certification or actively pursuing CPA license is strongly preferred.</li><li>Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling).</li><li>Demonstrated experience with Quickbooks.</li><li>In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.</li></ul>Extra Special Sauce<ul><li>Excitement for working in a dynamic environment with a high level of ambiguity and potential</li><li>Strong internal and external communication</li><li>A passion for process improvement to accelerate the month-end close and other team and individual responsibilities</li></ul>CompensationThe anticipated base salary range for this role is $95,000 - $112,000. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for an annual bonus based on a combination of individual achievements and overall company performance.
