Now a wholly owned subsidiary of ERMCO, we operate with the agility of a startup and the backing of an industry leader. Job SummaryWe are seeking a dynamic and accomplished Electrical Test Engineer for ERMCO’s Athens, GA plant who is responsible for supporting the development, setup, and execution of electrical test capabilities for distribution, network, and dry‑type transformers. This role plays a key part in helping stand up testing processes, equipment, documentation, and workflows in a new facility, ensuring they meet ERMCO standards for safety, quality, and performance. This engineer will perform hands‑on testing, troubleshoot issues, collaborate with design and manufacturing teams, and support the implementation of new test systems that align with Athens’ production ramp‑up and long‑term operational goals.The Electrical Test Engineer is a high-level role responsible for the design, development and optimization of transformer testing equipment for distribution transformers (1 phase and 3 phase pole and pad mount transformers, dry type transformers). As an experienced engineer, this role involves providing technical ownership on complex projects, mentoring less experienced engineers and technicians and solving advanced engineering challenges. This role includes collaboration with cross-functional teams, driving innovation, and ensuring that all designs meet the highest standards of performance, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This role will be onsite in Athens, GA. Relocation Assistance is available.<h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Perform electrical testing on transformers and components using established ERMCO standards and applicable industry requirements.</li> <li>Design and develop electrical test systems and components for distribution transformers, reactors and special transformers, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g. IEEE, IEC, CSA, NEMA).</li> <li>Conduct detailed engineering analysis to optimize cost, performance and efficiency.</li> <li>Perform and oversee failure analysis on design and production related issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability.</li> <li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless integration of designs into production.</li> <li>Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians by offering technical expertise, support, and development opportunities.</li> <li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure successful integration of designs into production.</li> <li>Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.</li> <li>Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and ensure competitive product designs.</li> <li>Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, promoting innovation and efficiency in design processes and methodologies.</li> <li>Maintain a safe work environment for development, troubleshooting and acceptance testing of test equipment including medium voltage level (up to 100 kV).</li></ul><h2>Qualifications</h2><ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Master’s degree is a plus.</li> <li>5-6 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on transformer and related products testing and/or design.</li> <li>Proven ability to perform design projects from concept to production.</li> <li>Extensive experience with electrical testing of transformers and testing equipment.</li> <li>Extensive experience and knowledge with industry standards (e.g. IEEE, IEC, CSA, NEMA) and regulatory requirements for transformers or components.</li> <li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.</li> <li>Excellent problem-solving abilities, capable of addressing complex technical challenges independently.</li> <li>Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders.</li> <li>Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities.</li> <li>Experience conducting failure analysis and implementing corrective actions for design and production related issues.</li></ul> Let’s Build the Future Together At ERMCO, your ideas matter, your growth is supported, and your impact is real.
