Highlights include: <ul><li>Named to the <a href="https://www.cleantech.com/the-global-cleantech-100/">Global Cleantech 100</a> for four consecutive years (2022–2025) </li></ul><ul><li>$1M Grand Prize winner of the Impact Canada Charging the Future Challenge </li></ul><ul><li>Awarded a $1.6M grant from Breakthrough Energy Solutions Canada </li></ul><ul><li>Secured over $12M in funding across three projects from Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) </li></ul><ul><li>Recipient of a USD $1.3M grant from the California Energy Commission </li></ul>As e-Zinc moves toward commercialization, e-Zinc is expanding its team to bring our transformative technology to market and support the future of renewable energy. Opportunity e-Zinc is seeking an experienced and talented Mechanical Engineer to join the Product Development team. Position Scope and Responsibilities  Design &amp; Analysis <ul><li>Lead mechanical design of battery cells and packs, including enclosures, interconnects, and structural components </li><li>Design external enclosures for DC-BESS units, covering component placement, fixing and racking strategy, fluid and electrical routing, and IP compliance </li><li>Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and BOMs in SolidWorks </li><li>Conduct tolerance stack-ups and FEA to validate design integrity and performance </li><li>Select and qualify materials and components against thermal, structural, environmental, and regulatory requirements </li></ul>Cross-Functional Integration <ul><li>Collaborate with electrical, controls, electrochemical, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet functional, integration, and DFM requirements </li><li>Lead discussions with external vendors and fabricators for custom component designs and assemblies</li><li>Drive engineering sample assembly and participate in hands-on functional testing </li></ul>Engineering Process <ul><li>Lead and contribute to design reviews, DFMEA, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives </li><li>Drive development of test fixtures, jigs, and assembly processes to support pack and BESS validation </li><li>Support safety and compliance testing to applicable regulatory standards (UL, IEC, CE) </li><li>Champion the full engineering cycle through integration of internal, field, and commercial feedback </li></ul> Qualifications Required: <ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline  </li></ul><ul><li>5+ years of mechanical design experience in energy storage, automotive, robotics, or industrial systems  </li></ul><ul><li>Registered with Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO), or eligible for registration is an asset. </li></ul><ul><li>Demonstrated expertise in mechanical system design for high-power devices, thermal management, or structural analysis  </li></ul><ul><li>Proficiency in SolidWorks, PDM and simulation tools (ANSYS, CFX, or equivalent)  </li></ul><ul><li>Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and working with external vendors and fabricators  </li></ul><ul><li>Strong working knowledge of DFM/DFA, GD&amp;T, and materials selection for mechanical systems  </li></ul><ul><li>Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment </li></ul> Additional Assets: <ul><li>Experience in battery, fuel cell, or energy storage system design and packaging  </li><li>Familiarity with regulatory standards relevant to energy storage (UL 9540, IEC 62619, CE marking) </li><li>Background in electrochemical device packaging or fluid-handling mechanical systems </li></ul> At e-Zinc, how we work matters just as much as what we build.
