Timmons Group is seeking a Land Development Practice Leader to lead, grow, and shape our Land Development presence in the Charleston, SC market. You will have meaningful influence over strategy, staffing, culture, and client engagement while partnering with firm leadership to expand our footprint in a competitive and dynamic market.As the Land Development Practice Leader, you will serve as both a business leader and technical authority, with responsibility for growing the practice and mentoring the next generation of engineers.Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:Practice &amp; Business Leadership<ul><li>Lead the growth and strategic direction of the Land Development practice in the Charleston, SC office</li><li>Develop and expand client relationships; serve as a trusted advisor to public and private sector clients</li><li>Drive business development efforts, including market positioning, pursuit strategy, and proposal leadership</li><li>Maintain ownership of project financial performance, including scope, schedule, staffing, and profitability</li><li>Collaborate with firm leadership to identify growth opportunities and support long-term office expansion</li></ul>Team &amp; Culture Building<ul><li>Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers and designers</li><li>Provide coaching and technical oversight while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and inclusive culture</li><li>Set clear expectations and support career development for staff at multiple experience levels</li></ul>Technical &amp; Project Leadership<ul><li>Provide technical guidance and quality oversight on land development projects</li><li>support design efforts using Civil 3D and related modeling tools as needed</li><li>Ensure projects comply with state and local jurisdictional requirements</li><li>Oversee preparation of plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates</li><li>Maintain strong coordination between clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders</li></ul>Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:<ul><li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)</li><li>Professional Engineer (P.E.) or similar licensure preferred</li><li>15+ years of experience in civil engineering with a strong background in public or private land development</li><li>Demonstrated success in business development, client management, and team leadership</li><li>Strong understanding of project accounting, budgeting, and multi-project resource management</li><li>Experience supervising and mentoring technical staff</li><li>Working knowledge of standard engineering and office software</li><li>A leadership mindset marked by professionalism, accountability, and collaboration</li></ul>Why This Role?This is more than a project management position—it’s an opportunity to lead an engineering practice, influence office growth, and leave a lasting mark on a major market.
