Build to simplify.What you will doIn this role, you will own the development and industrialisation of metal components manufactured at supplier facilities. You will work closely with vendors, design teams and manufacturing engineers to ensure components are manufacturable, scalable and capable of meeting quality and performance requirements.You will also drive new process development and evaluate emerging manufacturing technologies for future products.ResponsibilitiesMetal Component Development• Lead development of metal components across multiple manufacturing processes including: – Welding – Extrusion – Machining – Castings (HPDC / LPDC) – Sheet metal forming and deep drawing – Laser cutting and bending• Support development of EV-specific components such as: – Cold plates – Deep drawn tubs and enclosures – Busbars and flexible busbars – Structural and thermal management components• Work closely with design teams to evaluate manufacturability and process feasibility • Ensure components meet dimensional, cosmetic, structural and functional requirements Metallurgy &amp; Process Engineering• Apply metallurgy fundamentals for material selection and process compatibility • Evaluate weldability and material interaction between different alloys and processes • Understand material behaviour during forming, welding and thermal cycles • Support selection of materials and joining methods based on product and process requirements • Drive development of advanced joining technologies such as: – Friction Stir Welding (FSW) – Diffusion welding – Laser welding Supplier Development &amp; Industrialisation• Work closely with supplier partners to develop manufacturing capability and process stability • Support process setup, validation and production readiness at vendor facilities • Conduct process audits, capability studies and manufacturability reviews • Drive resolution of quality and process issues within aggressive project timelines • Ensure suppliers implement robust controls for repeatability and traceability Process Capability &amp; Continuous Improvement<ul><li>Understand and improve process capability (Cp/Cpk) for critical dimensions and features</li><li>Drive process optimisation for quality, yield and throughput improvement</li><li>Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for manufacturing issues</li><li>Introduce best practices and standardisation across suppliers and processes</li></ul>The ideal candidate requires• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field • Minimum 5 years of experience in metal manufacturing, fabrication or supplier process development • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including: – Welding – Extrusion – Machining – Casting – Sheet metal forming• Strong metallurgy fundamentals and understanding of material compatibility and weldability • Experience working with suppliers and external manufacturing partners • Understanding of process capability, validation and manufacturing scale-up • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills • Ability to manage quality and delivery expectations under challenging timelines Preferred / Added Advantage<ul><li>Experience in EV battery pack, thermal systems or power electronics manufacturing</li><li>Exposure to advanced joining technologies such as Friction Stir Welding or Diffusion Welding</li><li>Experience with aluminium alloys, copper busbars and thermal management systems</li><li>Familiarity with GD&amp;T, tolerance stack-up and DFM/DFA principles</li><li>Understanding of APQP, PFMEA and manufacturing quality systems </li></ul>What matters<ul><li>Strong ownership and execution mindset</li><li>Detail-oriented approach toward quality and manufacturability</li><li>Ability to build strong relationships with vendors and manufacturing partners</li><li>Street-smart problem-solving and decision-making capability</li><li>Curiosity toward new manufacturing technologies and process innovation</li><li>Ability to balance technical depth with practical execution</li></ul>About UsExponent simplifies energy for EVs.Co-founded by Arun Vinayak (Ather Energy's Founding Partner &amp; Former Chief Product Officer) and Sanjay Byalal (Former hardware strategic sourcing and cell strategy lead, Ather and Former Supply Chain Lead, HUL), Exponent focuses on solving two sides of the energy problem by building the e^pump (charging station) and e^pack (battery pack) which together unlock 15-min rapid chargingThe 200+ strong team has tons of EV experience and is in the process of hiring more professionals to build &amp; scale Exponent as one of the best EV Energy Companies out of India
