Are you ready to be a part of a team committed to changing the world?</p></div><h2>Who You Are</h2><p>The Environmental Program Manager is a high-level leader responsible for working cross-functionally to steward the strategic direction, implementation, and health of Sila’s company-wide Environmental programs. The Environmental Program Manager will be a key member of the Sila team, responsible for developing, implementing, and managing environmental programs and interfacing with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and foster a strong environmental stewardship culture at our Moses Lake, WA and Alameda, CA sites.</p><p>As a master cross-functional orchestrator and executive, and external communicator, you will lead through influence, partnering with EHS&amp;S site managers, R&amp;D, engineering, and operations to embed a rigorous culture of environmental stewardship into our commercial execution.</p><h2><span style="font-size:12pt;">Responsibilities and Duties  </span></h2><ul><li>Interface with plant personnel to ensure the necessary programs, systems and data collection are in place to support regulatory requirements.</li><li>Provide environmental requirements into project plans to ensure projects comply as well as be an active project member to audit progress, sign off on final design and perform field verification.</li><li>Manage air permitting activities with assistance by consultants, including negotiations, communications, applications, modifications, compliance and audits for the Department of Ecology (Washington) and Bay Area Air District (California).</li><li>Manage industrial wastewater testing and permit compliance for Department of Ecology (Washington) and East Bay Municipal Utility District (California).</li><li>Manage stormwater compliance for the Department of Ecology (Washington) and State Water Resources Control Board (California).</li><li>Manage hazardous waste programs, including vendor support, waste characterization, storage, disposal, auditing, and record-keeping.</li><li>Reporting: prepare annual CERS submission, prepare waste reports, collect air permit required data and information for annual submission to BAAQMD &amp; Department of Ecology.</li><li>Ensure compliance for existing and new operations with all applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations.</li><li>Conduct environmental audits and inspections to identify potential risks and implement corrective actions.</li><li>Set a strategy for source testing that is aligned with Sila leadership. Manage environmental source testing and submit reports to agencies within regulatory requirements.</li><li>Develop and deliver environmental training for employees.</li><li>Assist with environmental incident reporting and investigation, contributing to root cause analysis and preventative measures.</li><li>Communicate environmental performance metrics and regulatory updates effectively with site management.</li><li>Collaborate with EHS&amp;S staff to develop and implement environmental programs and initiatives, and where time, lead and/or contribute to other HS&amp;S programs.</li><li>Stay current on environmental regulations and requirements.</li></ul><p><span style="font-size:12pt;"><strong>Knowledge and Skill Requirements </strong></span></p><ul><li>Industry Experience: 10+ years of professional experience building and scaling corporate EHS&amp;S programs within heavy tech, chemicals, automotive, or advanced manufacturing industries.</li><li>Scale-Up Expertise: Minimum 5 years leading large-scale environmental  programs, with demonstrated experience supporting technology transfer from R&amp;D into high-volume commercial manufacturing environments.</li><li>Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in EHS, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering/technical discipline. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred.</li></ul><p><span style="font-size:12pt;"><strong>Physical Demands and Working Conditions</strong></span></p><ul><li>Work onsite in either Alameda or Moses Lake and travel frequently to the other location (~ 25%).</li><li>Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a respirator, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, head protection, flame resistant clothing, and safety shoes.</li><li>Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time.</li><li>Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier/printer, etc in a fixed location.</li></ul><p>The starting base pay for this role is between $159,000 and $201,000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills.
