Job DescriptionPosition SummaryBrookfield is seeking a Legal Assistant to support the Legal Team within Brookfield Asset Management. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, proactive self-starter with a high level of professionalism and discretion. This role requires the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, interact with staff at all levels, and remain flexible, resourceful, and efficient under pressure.Responsibilities<ul><li>Legal document management and preparation with strong proficiency in MS Office,  Adobe Acrobat and Litera (including advanced formatting of Excel, PowerPoint, Word documents including track changes and comments)</li><li>Assisted with records administration tasks, including filing, organizing, and maintaining electronic and physical documents</li><li>Calendar management and scheduling</li><li>Participate in ad hoc office operational projects as required (for example, documentation management and coordination of signing of documents)</li><li>Expense report receipt tracking and report submission</li><li>Legal Tracker (Serengeti) matter openings</li><li>Reviewing, approving and reconciling vendor invoices with a particular focus on legal invoices. Includes managing the accounts payable process and communicating with law firms and other vendors</li><li>Manage incoming correspondence, including email, telephone and mail</li><li>Assist team members with work overflow during busy periods, absences, holidays, etc.</li><li>Travel booking and coordination of Legal team and board members as required</li></ul>Qualifications &amp; Requirements<ul><li>3-5 years' experience in a law firm or the legal department of a large public company/in-house group preferred</li><li>Highly organized and able to work in a dynamic, complex and fast-paced environment, as well as adapt quickly to manage changing priorities and deadlines</li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a group alongside all levels and departments of the organization</li><li>Excellent communication (verbal and written)</li><li>Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook</li><li>Experience with Concur is a plus but not required</li><li>Knowledge of Visio, iManage, Diligent Entities, Diligent Board Books, SEDAR or SEDI, is an asset</li><li>Knowledge of minute books and closing books, is an asset</li><li>Overtime as needed </li></ul>Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000 CADPosition Opening Reason:New Position Brookfield is committed to maintaining a Positive Work Environment that is safe, respectful; our shared success depends on it.
