<h2>The Role</h2>The RF front-end is the core of the GridIQ’s edge device sensing chain. You will own the custom front-end PCA from architecture through first-article: schematic capture, PCB layout direction, signal integrity simulation, and DFM hand-off to manufacturing. This is hands-on design work. <h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Define the RF signal chain from the coupler interface through LNA, filtering, impedance matching, RF switching, and ADC input</li><li>Schematic capture and component selection for the front-end PCA (LNAs, filters, RF switches, baluns, couplers)</li><li>PCB layout: material selection, stackup, impedance targets, routing constraints, keepouts</li><li>Signal integrity simulation using S-parameter models; VNA measurement and matching network iteration on fabricated boards</li><li>EMC pre-compliance: identify and resolve emission issues before regulatory submission</li><li>Produce complete manufacturing documentation: fabrication notes, assembly drawing, BOM with approved substitutes</li></ul> <h2>Qualifications</h2><ul><li>5+ years of RF or high-speed analog PCB design with at least one custom RF PCA shipped</li><li>Proficiency in Altium Designer or equivalent EDA tool through Gerber generation</li><li>Hands-on VNA experience: S-parameter characterization and impedance matching</li><li>Strong understanding of controlled-impedance layout and high-frequency PCB stackup</li><li>Experience with RF component selection: LNAs, RF switches, SAW/BAW filters, directional couplers</li><li>EMC design knowledge: shielding, filtering, layout strategies</li><li>Python or MATLAB for signal processing</li></ul> <h2>Nice to Have</h2><ul><li>Differential signal chains and common-mode rejection optimization</li><li>FCC Part 15 or utility EMC compliance experience</li><li>High-speed ADC interface design (clock distribution, LVDS)</li><li>Contract manufacturing oversight / vendor management</li><li>Experience with fixed-point DSP or FPGA-based signal processing</li><li>Understanding of noise floor, dynamic range, and SNR budgeting across a signal chain</li><li>AGC (automatic gain control) architecture</li></ul>
