We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.</p><h2>Overview</h2><p>This role lives within the System Electronics Mechanical team. This team is responsible for designing the pilot inceptors, air data probe, and numerous computer assemblies across the S4, as well as mechanically designing next-generation perception suites for enabling autonomy for future aircraft. We’re seeking a passionate, hands-on, and fundamentally strong engineer to own designs from concept to certification, work cross-functionally to optimize vehicle-level solutions, and ensure the safe, lightweight, and reliable delivery of electromechanical assemblies to aircraft. (We're open to earlier career through senior level candidates for this position).</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><p>Own designs from concept to certification, including: </p><ul> <li>Rapid prototyping and development testing</li> <li>Mass optimization, stress analysis, and thermal analysis</li> <li>Troubleshooting issues in manufacturing, testing, and in the field</li> <li>Driving system safety, reliability, requirements, and integration considerations</li> <li>Designing for manufacturability and cost at the component and assembly levels</li> <li>Communicate design risks, complex concepts, and data clearly and honestly</li></ul><ul> <li>Collaborate effectively and with humility across multiple areas of expertise</li></ul><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent) </li> <li>3+ years of demonstrated working experience in relevant industry, including internships, co-ops, academic research, or project experience</li> <li>Proficiency with CAD (e.g., CATIA, NX, SolidWorks) for complex surfacing, part design, and assemblies</li> <li>Strong fundamentals in statics, dynamics, heat transfer, and materials science </li></ul><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent) </li> <li>5+ years of relevant industry experience, concept through production</li> <li>Familiarity with DO-160G mechanical requirements for aerospace applications </li> <li>Familiarity with both low-voltage and high-voltage electromechanical designs</li> <li>Experience with finite element analysis (e.g., Abaqus, Ansys, SolidWorks)</li></ul><p> </p><p>Please still apply if you don’t meet all items in the desired section! The target base pay for this position is $104,800 - $181,000/yr.
