<h2>Overview</h2>We are designing the grid of the future!  EPE is looking to recruit an Associate Technical Director with a background in Modelling and Interconnection/Transmission Planning studies. We are ideally looking for a candidate with extensive experience in the MISO and SPP regions but would be open to candidates with strong backgrounds outside these markets. This role is ideal for a technical leader who thrives on solving hard problems, building trusted relationships and driving outsized impact for both our clients and the industry. <h2>Responsibilities</h2>How you can make an impact:Leadership &amp; Team Development  <ul> <li>Lead, mentor, and empower a diverse team of engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability and innovation. </li></ul> <ul> <li>Demonstrate extreme ownership by taking responsibility for outcomes, decisions and overall team success. </li></ul> <ul> <li>Enhance internal capability by coaching staff on both technical and client-facing skills. </li></ul> <ul> <li>Enhance delivery frameworks, QA/QC processes, and drive cross collaboration to ensure the team scales effectively.  </li></ul>  Client &amp; Market Impact  <ul> <li>Serve as a trusted advisor to generation, large load and merchant transmission developers helping them navigate MISO and SPP’s evolving interconnection landscape. </li></ul> <ul> <li>Translate complex technical issues into clear and actionable insights that accelerate client decision-making and support project success. </li></ul> <ul> <li>Leverage strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills to gather necessary input and make informed recommendations even in situations where there is inherent ambiguity.  </li></ul> <ul> <li>Lead reviews of interconnection studies and identify creative pathways to remove roadblocks and expedite projects. </li></ul>  Commercial &amp; Strategic Growth  <ul> <li>Partner with senior leadership to shape and execute EPE’s growth strategy across MISO, SPP and beyond. </li></ul> <ul> <li>Identify and pursue the development of new services to address our client needs.  </li></ul> <ul> <li>Lead proposal and RFP development efforts.  </li></ul> <ul> <li>Contribute thought leadership through conferences, technical papers, and industry forums. </li></ul> <ul> <li>Drive the development of internal tools and analytics that strengthen EPE’s position in the market. </li></ul> <h2>Qualifications</h2>Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:Qualifications <ul> <li>Minimum 8 years of experience in the electric energy industry. </li></ul><ul> <li>Proven ability to connect the dots between technical deliverables, client needs and their commercial strategy.  </li></ul><ul> <li>Exceptional communicator who can influence, create alignment and make decisions confidently under uncertainty. </li></ul><ul> <li>Strong understanding of MISO, SPP and Utility interconnection requirements and regulatory framework for both generation and load.  </li></ul><ul> <li>Strong written and verbal communication and ability to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams. </li></ul><ul> <li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. </li></ul>  Beneficial Experience <ul> <li>Direct experience working at an ISO or Utility in the Eastern Interconnect or on behalf of these entities as a consultant would be highly valuable.  </li></ul><ul> <li>Experience in IBR modelling and/or load modelling. </li></ul><ul> <li>Working knowledge of power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, TARA PSCAD, PSLF, or PowerWorld). </li> <li>Experience leveraging AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity and innovation under experience (bring your passion section. </li></ul>  Lead the Change!Be a part of an innovative team shaping the grid of the future through advanced energy intelligence.  For more than half a century, Electric Power Engineers (EPE) has partnered with power and energy clients across the globe, providing consulting expertise and energy intelligence software solutions for complex engineering and grid modeling challenges.
