The position is based in Pittsburgh, PA.   Travel Required</div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div>25% - mostly East Coast (primarily Baltimore, MD</div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>Accountabilities<ul><li>Plan, execute, monitor and control Design, configuration, test and commissioning activities for the telecommunication system according to the overall program schedule.</li><li>Identify, analyze and manage requirements</li><li>Identify and resolve interfaces internal and external to the Telecommunication System (e.g. Signaling, Rolling Stock, etc.)</li><li>Integrate medium-complex telecommunications systems with particular attention to Wired and Wireless Networking technologies</li><li>Prepare Conceptual, Preliminary, Detailed and Installation Design</li><li>Participate in products selection</li><li>Create Bill of Materials and support Purchasing Department to order equipment</li><li>Make sure assigned project/s are properly staffed to execute activities as planned</li><li>Keep assigned project/s budget under control</li><li>Manage and mitigate risks</li></ul>Required Skills &amp; Experience<ul><li>Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, terminology and trends in communications engineering</li><li>Working Knowledge of fiber optics, hardware and software related to wired and wireless communications.</li><li>Working knowledge of wireless communications in demanding scenarios</li><li>Exposure to Passenger Information Systems (onboard and wayside) technologies.</li><li>Working knowledge of planning and scheduling of activities using MS project, Primavera or other similar tools</li><li>Prior experience managing small-medium sized projects and project teams</li><li>Working knowledge of Test and commissioning processes</li><li>Skilled in handling electric, electronic, and mechanical drawings and schematics</li><li>Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills</li><li>Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to communicate complex technical information</li></ul>Desired Skills &amp; Experience<ul><li>knowledge of telecommunications systems for the railway industry</li><li>From 2 to 5 years of Railway System Engineering expertise</li></ul>EducationBachelors Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Computer Engineering or Information Technology OR at least a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experienceLanguage English proficiencyBenefitsHitachi Rail employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including Competitive Pay, Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance, Short &amp; Long Term Disability, Life &amp; Accident Insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, a Retirement Savings Plan, and Paid Vacation.
