This is a hands-on flatbed position that involves more than just driving—drivers are actively involved in loading, securing, and unloading freight.</h2><h2></h2><h2>CORE RESPONSIBILITIES</h2>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.<ul><li>Safely operate a DOT-regulated Class A commercial vehicle</li><li>This is NOT a drop-and-hook position</li><li>Drivers are required to exit the truck and actively participate in all jobsite operations</li><li>Identify all items being delivered or picked up with the customer to ensure accuracy and completeness</li><li>Perform visual inspection of equipment at pickup/delivery and document any damage</li><li>Obtain customer signatures on required paperwork</li><li>Operate material handling equipment to safely load and unload trucks and trailers</li><li>Secure all flatbed loads using straps, chains, and proper load securement techniques</li><li>Assist in full load securement, setup, and tear-down at customer sites</li><li>Hook and disconnect hoses and support equipment as required</li><li>Operate fusion equipment to build HDPE (high-density polyethylene) pipelines at customer sites</li><li>Connect pumping systems and ensure operational readiness of pipeline systems</li><li>Understand and adjust for environmental and weather impacts on fusion work</li><li>Maintain compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and all applicable safety regulations</li><li>Conduct Job Safety Assessments prior to beginning work at customer sites</li><li>Ensure proper use of all required PPE at all times</li><li>Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and yard environment</li><li>Work effectively in a team environment while also operating independently with minimal supervision</li><li>Take ownership of company property and equipment</li><li>Demonstrate a strong safety-first culture and accountability in all work activities</li></ul><h2>TRAVEL &amp; DRIVING REQUIREMENTS</h2><ul><li>Mix of local routes, longer-distance travel, and occasional overnight stays</li><li>Ability to drive difficult routes and work in varying environments</li></ul><h2>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</h2><ul><li>Must be able to lift and carry up to 50–75 lbs</li><li>Frequent physical activity including bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and standing</li><li>Work performed in outdoor and industrial environments in all weather conditions</li><li>Exposure to noise, fumes, and machinery consistent with OSHA standards</li><li>Extended hours, overtime, weekends, and on-call rotation may be required</li></ul><h2>QUALIFICATIONS</h2><ul><li>Valid Class A CDL required</li><li>Active Hazmat endorsement required</li><li>Ability to obtain DOT medical card (or currently valid)</li><li>Clean driving record and ability to pass MVR review</li><li>Ability to complete required customer clearances (e.g., TWIC, DISA if required)</li><li>Experience with flatbed hauling and load securement (chains/straps)</li><li>Ability to travel overnight and occasionally cross regional routes</li><li>Ability to understand weight distribution and load requirements</li><li>Construction or field service experience preferred (0–2 years acceptable)</li><li>Fusion experience preferred but not required</li></ul>Join the global Xylem team to be a part of innovative technology solutions transforming water usage, conservation, and re-use.
