In-Situ Machining Specialist - Field Service & Workshop

Workshop to join our team working for a better future. The position is permanent, and the preferred location is Fort Lauderdale / Miami, Florida. What You Will Be Doing?  As an In-Situ Machining Specialist, you will play a key role within the Marine Parts &amp; Field Service team, supporting both Marine and Power Plant customers across North and Latin America. This is a highly hands-on, technical role with a strong field service component, requiring frequent travel and the ability to work independently on complex machining tasks in demanding customer environments. You will perform and lead in-situ machining activities on Wärtsilä and third-party engines and critical components, both in workshop and on-site, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with Wärtsilä standards.  Responsibilities:  <ul><li>Lead and execute in-situ machining activities on Wärtsilä and third-party equipment, including engines and critical components.</li><li>Perform machining work in field service and workshop environments, adapting to varying site conditions.</li><li>Carry out line boring, crankshaft machining, crack pin machining, and metal stitching activities.</li><li>Perform engine and crankshaft inspections, ensuring compliance with certification and regulatory requirements.</li><li>Polish, inspect, and machine engine components to extend engine life and ensure certification standards are met.</li><li>Lead or coordinate small machining teams during field assignments.</li><li>Conduct site audits and assess machining and repair requirements.</li><li>Prepare and submit technical service reports, work reports, and travel &amp; expense reports accurately and on time, following Wärtsilä quality standards.</li><li>Act as a customer-facing technical expert, maintaining strong professional relationships and representing Wärtsilä positively.</li><li>Promote Wärtsilä products and services during customer interactions.</li><li>Participate in internal working groups and contribute to team development and knowledge sharing.</li><li>Execute all work in strict compliance with Wärtsilä safety, quality, and operational standards.</li></ul>  Required Qualifications:  <ul><li>Completed High School or Vocational School in machining or machinist-related field.</li><li>Minimum 3+ years of hands-on machining experience in a workshop and/or field service environment.</li><li>Proven experience with: Lathe operations - Milling machines - Drilling, tapping, reaming, grinding - Welding and fabrication - Use of precision measuring equipment.</li><li>Field service experience or demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to field-based work.</li><li>Strong mechanical and machining expertise with engines and critical components.</li><li>Ability to interpret technical drawings, procedures, and standards.</li><li>Solid information management skills</li><li>Languages - Advanced English (spoken and written).</li></ul> Other Requirements:  <ul><li>High availability for travel, both domestic and international, on short notice (up to ~80%).</li><li>Ability to work under pressure in multicultural and customer-facing environments.</li><li>Strong communication skills and customer orientation.</li><li>Motivation to learn, grow, and operate at a senior technical level.</li></ul> Preferred Qualifications:  <ul><li>Engineering degree or advanced technical education.</li><li>Prior experience with Wartsila products and services.</li><li>Proven ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.</li></ul> As an ideal candidate, we expect you to have: <ul><li>High integrity.</li><li>Passion for customer service and technical excellence.</li><li>Strong focus on quality and safety.</li><li>Critical thinking</li><li>Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in languages needed to support the team.</li><li>Strong organizational skills and a team player mindset.</li><li>Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.</li></ul> Physical &amp;
