This role is responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of backend trading systems, APIs, and UI applications through a combination of manual and automated testing. You will play a key role in validating complex end-to-end trading workflows, including distributed services, event-driven systems, and user interfaces (desktop and web). While contributing to automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines, you are expected to remain deeply involved in hands-on testing, debugging, and defect analysis. This role requires a pragmatic approach to quality engineering — balancing automation, exploratory testing, and real-world system validation to ensure robust delivery in a fast-paced, Agile environment.  Working on an EMEA shift.Role Responsibilities<ul><li>Lead testing activities across backend services, APIs, and UI applications (primary focus on backend/API testing)  </li><li>Validate end-to-end trade lifecycle workflows, including integrations across multiple systems and services  </li><li>Perform a mix of:  </li><li>Manual exploratory testing for complex scenarios </li><li>Functional, regression, and integration testing </li><li>Automated test execution and validation </li><li>Collaborate closely with global Business Analyst, Development and QA teams for efficient test planning, test design and co-ordinate testing efforts between global teams. </li><li>Promote delivery of quality software – unit tests, code reviews etc. </li><li>Demonstrate a high degree of autonomy, taking ownership and prioritization of tasks. </li><li>Experiment with multiple technologies and methodologies as part of delivery, to help guarantee the best solution and approach. </li><li>Take Ownership/Accountability for development of key features and drive to completion. </li><li>Communicate effectively on progress and ensure impediments are raised early to minimise impact on the delivery. </li><li>Mentoring and coaching the team members to stretch quality achievements </li></ul>  Experience / Competences Essential <ul><li>Proven experience as a Senior QA Engineer in backend/service-oriented systems </li></ul><ul><li>Proficient in one OO programming (C# preferred) and one scripting (javascript, typescript etc.) language </li></ul><ul><li>Demonstrable experience using JIRA, Zephyr, and UI Automation tooling (e.g. Test Complete, FlaUI, Selenium, Cypress, Playwright etc.) </li></ul><ul><li>Adept at analysing and identifying key areas for automation using development, data manipulation and scripting skills </li></ul><ul><li>Experience and developing end to end functional automated tests </li></ul><ul><li>Experience of designing Acceptance Test Criteria for functional requirements, writing and maintaining end to end tests with an Automated Framework. </li></ul><ul><li>Skilled in using CI/CD tooling such as GitLab, Team City, Jenkins.  </li></ul><ul><li>Experience of using BDD testing frameworks such as Cucumber and performance/ NFR testing tool J-Meter or similar. </li></ul><ul><li>Non-Functional testing including, Performance, Load, Stress and Security testing </li></ul><ul><li>Knowledge of FIX Client / FIX API automation. </li></ul><ul><li>Understanding of trade life cycle and knowledge of broker/ trader platforms </li></ul><ul><li>Identify and raise risks to the project and product to key stakeholders. Work with Product Owners and BAs to prioritise/ mitigate risk </li></ul><ul><li>Participate in agreeing the Definition of Done to ensure Quality is central and achievement can be measured </li></ul><ul><li>Knowledgeable in Jira or similar issue management system.  </li></ul><ul><li>Adept at working in Agile/ Agile SAFe engineering environments, exhibiting strong communication skills including collaboration with local and remote team members.  </li></ul><ul><li>Appreciation of the full SDLC and driving the importance of quality throughout this process.  </li></ul><ul><li>Excellent attention to detail, highly organised with a proactive and independent approach to problem solving and innovative solutions.  </li></ul><ul><li>Pro-actively take initiative to collaborate and improve the teams quality and performance. </li></ul><ul><li>Delivery-focused and pragmatic, capable of working on multiple tasks simultaneously and managing deadlines.  </li></ul><ul><li>Critically evaluate and offer challenge to design, approach or tooling to achieve the best outcome for the project.  </li></ul><ul><li>Experience of reporting on testing progress and strategy, providing interpretation and insight on progress to inform management to take decisions.  </li></ul>Desired <ul><li>Background and experience of financial/ trading platforms and knowledge of financial markets </li></ul><ul><li>Broad knowledge of financial markets and Fixed-Income or Credit products </li></ul><ul><li>Relevant Testing Qualifications such as ISTQB, Agile Software Testing Courses </li></ul><ul><li>Knowledge of FIX protocol and ability to handle FIX interactions.  </li></ul><ul><li>In-depth knowledge of AWS services. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience with serverless architecture and microservices. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience with TDD, BDD or similar approaches to specifying requirements and design.  </li></ul>  Role Band &amp; Level: Manager / 6 #LI-Hybrid #LI-MIDNot The Perfect Fit?Concerned that you may not meet the criteria precisely?
