Responsibilities:Progress Billing &amp; Revenue Recognition<ul><li>Prepare and process progress billings/invoices based on percentage of completion, milestones, or contract terms</li><li>Coordinate with project managers and engineers to validate work completed vs. billed</li><li>Ensure billing aligns with contract scope, schedules, and client requirements</li><li>Monitor unbilled revenue and ensure timely conversion to invoices</li><li>Apply appropriate revenue recognition methods (e.g., percentage-of-completion)</li></ul>Project Financial Management<ul><li>Develop and maintain detailed project budgets and forecasts</li><li>Track project costs (labor, materials, subcontractors, overhead)</li><li>Perform variance analysis between actual costs, budget, and billings</li></ul>Accounting &amp; Reporting<ul><li>Record all project-related financial transactions accurately</li><li>Prepare Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports, including over/under billings</li><li>Reconcile project accounts and ensure data integrity</li><li>Generate monthly financial reports for management and stakeholders</li></ul>Billing &amp; Collections<ul><li>Ensure timely submission of invoices in line with client and contract requirements</li><li>Track and follow up on accounts receivable and outstanding invoices</li><li>Resolve billing discrepancies and client inquiries</li><li>Maintain billing schedules and documentation</li></ul>Cost Control &amp; Analysis<ul><li>Review and validate project expenses before billing</li><li>Identify cost overruns and recommend corrective actions</li><li>Support financial planning and cash flow forecasting for projects</li></ul>Compliance &amp; Documentation<ul><li>Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP/IFRS, and contract requirements</li><li>Maintain accurate records of contracts, change orders, and billing documentation</li><li>Support audits by providing necessary project financial data</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field</li><li>Experience: 3–5+ years of project accounting experience, preferably in construction, engineering, or similar industries</li><li>Strong understanding of:</li><li>Progress billing</li><li>Percentage-of-completion accounting</li><li>WIP reporting and contract accounting</li><li>Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Viewpoint, QuickBooks)</li><li>Advanced Excel skills</li><li>Progress billing and contract accounting</li><li>Financial analysis and reporting</li><li>Attention to detail and accuracy</li><li>Strong communication with technical and non-financial teams</li><li>Time management and ability to work overtime, if needed</li><li>Problem-solving and critical thinking</li></ul>About SMEC For 75 years, SMEC has built a reputation as a trusted partner on major transport and energy infrastructure projects around the world.
