You'll work alongside utility engineers, planners, operations teams, regulators, and internal cross-functional teams to design and implement distributed energy solutions that make a measurable impact.</p><h2>What You'll Do</h2><p>As a Senior Power Systems Engineer, you'll serve as a technical subject matter expert supporting utility partners across multiple markets.</p><p>You'll:</p><ul><li><p>Partner directly with electric utility engineering, planning, and operations teams to identify and evaluate grid needs.</p></li><li><p>Analyze utility distribution systems, hosting capacity, load growth, and operational constraints.</p></li><li><p>Support the design and implementation of distributed energy resource (DER) programs, including battery energy storage systems (BESS), EV charging infrastructure, and flexible load solutions.</p></li><li><p>Develop communications, controls, and operational technology (OT) integration strategies that enable grid-connected assets to participate in utility and market programs.</p></li><li><p>Support distribution planning, interconnection studies, and DER integration efforts.</p></li><li><p>Translate complex engineering challenges into practical recommendations for both technical and business stakeholders.</p></li><li><p>Collaborate with Commercialization, Program Management, and Project Delivery teams to bring innovative utility solutions from concept through implementation.</p></li></ul><h2>What Makes This Role Unique</h2><ul><li><p>Work directly with multiple electric utilities across different regions and regulatory environments.</p></li><li><p>Influence how distributed energy resources are integrated into the modern electric grid.</p></li><li><p>Help utilities solve real-world engineering challenges related to grid reliability, capacity, and resilience.</p></li><li><p>Blend technical engineering expertise with strategic problem-solving and customer engagement.</p></li><li><p>Contribute to one of the fastest-growing areas within the utility industry.</p></li></ul><h2>What We're Looking For</h2><p><strong>Utility experience is required for this role.</strong></p><p>Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of utility operations, distribution systems, and grid planning gained through direct experience working for or with electric utilities.</p><h3>Required Qualifications</h3><ul><li><p>Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.</p></li><li><p><strong>5+ years of direct experience working within the electric utility industry</strong> in areas such as:</p><ul><li><p>Distribution Planning</p></li><li><p>Distribution Engineering</p></li><li><p>Power Systems Engineering</p></li><li><p>Grid Modernization</p></li><li><p>System Planning</p></li><li><p>DER Integration</p></li><li><p>Interconnection Engineering</p></li></ul></li><li><p>Experience partnering with utility engineering, operations, planning, or grid management organizations.</p></li><li><p>Strong understanding of electric distribution systems, utility planning processes, and grid operations.</p></li><li><p>Experience evaluating technical requirements, engineering tradeoffs, and system integration challenges.</p></li><li><p>Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.</p></li></ul><h3>Preferred Qualifications</h3><ul><li><p>Professional Engineer (PE) license.</p></li><li><p>Experience with Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS), ADMS, SCADA, DMS, or OMS platforms.</p></li><li><p>Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS), distributed generation, EV charging infrastructure, or microgrids.</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of utility communications protocols and controls architecture.</p></li><li><p>Experience supporting utility regulatory initiatives or wholesale energy markets.</p></li></ul><h2>Work Location</h2><p>This is a remote-first position and may be based anywhere within the United States.
