Location:(SUL) Farmington, NMJob ID: R0127873Date Posted:2026-06-11Company Name:HITACHI GLOBAL AIR POWER US, LLCProfession (Job Category):Engineering &amp; ScienceJob Schedule: Full timeRemote:NoJob Description:Job title:Senior CAD Drafter-DesignerLocation: Fabrication Facility, Farmington, NMReports to:Fabrication Facility ManagerSummary of the position:Responsible for creating detailed technical drawings using AutoCAD software, helping produce layouts from specifications, making modifications on standard models and drawings for a fabrication facility.  Perform some detailing of engineering concepts as directed.  Compile and maintain required documents and records.Duties and responsibilities:<ul><li>Generate 2D and 3D models and drawings using AutoCAD software.</li><li>Work independently and as part of a team to produce and modify a variety of standard layouts, assemblies, and drawings for new and existing projects.</li><li>Work from standard product specifications using manufacturing and material quotes to guide design decisions.</li><li>Modify or adjust 2D/3D models according to defined specifications.</li><li>Meet project deadlines and timelines for drawing submittals.</li><li>Maintain records, documents, and findings.</li><li>Collaborate with shop personnel to incorporate design changes and updates.</li><li>Compile Bill of Materials and specification sheets</li></ul>Education:<ul><li>Associate degree or certificate in drafting or related field</li><li>3+ years related technical experience and education applicable to mechanical drafting in a manufacturing environment</li></ul>Professional experience:<ul><li>Strong mechanical aptitude. </li><li>Basic knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes and tools</li><li>Strong logical, analytical, and results-oriented problem-solving skills.</li><li>Good Computer proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and AutoCAD.</li><li>Strong math, blueprint reading skills, and the use of technical instructions.</li><li>Basic electrical and software systems knowledge is ideal.</li><li>Team player and self-motivated.</li><li>Ability to work attentively and efficiently at producing high quality work.</li><li>Good verbal and written communication skills</li></ul>Key Behaviors:<ul><li>Ability to meet the public in a friendly, courteous, and businesslike manner.</li><li>Ability to communicate orally and in writing, and to receive detailed information in person or by phone.</li><li>Ability to read, verify and input accurately; a large volume of work with repetitive motions required.</li><li>Ability to perform routine mathematical calculations and accurately transfer numbers to various reports/entries.</li><li>Ability to work well with others and be detail oriented.</li></ul>Direct reports:<ul><li>NA</li></ul>Physical Qualifications<ul><li>This position requires long periods of sitting at a desk using a computer.</li></ul>The successful candidate is responsible for complying with Hitachi Global Air Power US Code of Ethics and related policies.
