<div><strong>Job Mission</strong></div><div> </div><div>We are seeking a skilled and motivated ‘Agroforestry Technician’ to join our orchard management team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and care of our tropical fruit and macadamia nut orchards in the Hilo area. This position works alongside our other crew members in the field and will start and end the workday at our Wainaku baseyard. Occasional travel to other locations on Hawaiʻi Island (i.e., Kona/west side or Waimea) will be required for team meetings and to support projects outside the regular sites, including Kohala and Kona.</div><div> </div><div><div><strong>Full-Time (40 hrs/week), Temporary Position starting as soon as July 1st - December 15th, 2026. </strong></div><div> </div><div><strong style="font-size:11pt;">Location: </strong>Hawaiʻi Island, primarily from Wainaku to Honomu. Workdays begin and end at the baseyard in Wainaku.</div><div> </div><div><strong style="font-size:11pt;">Salary:</strong><span style="font-size:11pt;"> Hourly, $20-24/hr, plus benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401k, PTO, paid holidays, and sick leave)</span></div></div><br><br><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li><p><strong>Nursery: </strong>Learn and apply specific grafting protocols and other activities related to propagation and nursery maintenance, including spraying, record-keeping, and weeding. </p></li><li><p><strong>Mowing:</strong> Operate machinery to mow and manage orchards and firebreaks. This may include string trimmers, riding mowers, and tractors. It may also involve driving trailers. </p></li><li><p><strong>Brush Clearing:</strong> Clear brush and fallen trees to maintain orchards, property boundaries, and reduce fire hazards.</p></li><li><p><strong>Pruning:</strong> Perform pruning to maintain orchard trees, manage fruit production, and maintain orchard maneuverability.</p></li><li><p><strong>Harvesting:</strong> Assist with harvesting tropical fruits and nuts, ensuring the produce is handled appropriately and delivered on time.</p></li><li><p><strong>Hauling and Loading Agricultural Products:</strong> Transport harvested tropical nuts from the orchard to transport or storage areas, including loading and unloading as needed.</p></li><li><p><strong>Weed Control:</strong> Spray weeds with approved herbicides according to the product label using backpack, tank, or tractor boom sprayers. </p></li><li><p><strong>Team Player:</strong> Ability to work collaboratively with other team members while also being self-motivated to complete tasks independently. Attend team and company meetings.</p></li></ul><h3>Desired Qualifications</h3><ul><li><p><strong>Horticulture Expertise: </strong>Experience in nursery work with an emphasis on grafting.</p></li><li><p><strong>Experience Operating Equipment:</strong> Experience operating tractors, riding mowers, and small engine equipment, including weed-whackers and chainsaws.</p></li><li><p><strong>Physical Stamina:</strong> Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions and the capability of lifting 50lbs.</p></li><li><p><strong>Attention to Detail:</strong> Strong attention to detail to ensure proper equipment maintenance.</p></li><li><p><strong>Safety Consciousness:</strong> Awareness and adherence to safety protocols when operating machinery and handling heavy loads or while working in high fire risk environments</p></li></ul><h3>Minimum Qualifications</h3><ul><li><p>Must have a valid Hawaiʻi Driver’s License and a clean driving record</p></li><li><p>Must be able to lift 50 lbs.</p></li></ul><h3>Preferred Qualifications</h3><ul><li><p>Previous farming experience, preferably in an orchard setting.</p></li><li><p>Basic knowledge of tropical fruit and macadamia nut tree care.</p></li><li><p>Experience in moving large equipment and driving trailers.</p></li></ul><br><div><div><strong>About Terraformation</strong></div><div> </div><div>Terraformation is committed to addressing climate change through the power of native forest restoration and sustainable farming practices.
