The role emphasises engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and scalable delivery, with a strong focus on automation, continuous integration, and deployment.Role Responsibilities<ul><li>Collaborate with Architects and Principal Engineers to design and deliver solutions aligned with the broader IT strategy and architectural vision.</li><li>Take ownership of the design, development, and delivery of key features, ensuring high-quality outcomes and timely completion.</li><li>Partner closely with QA to ensure robust testing practices and the consistent delivery of high-quality, defect-free software.</li><li>Champion engineering best practices, including unit testing, code reviews, and maintainable design principles.</li><li>Leverage AI-enabled development tools (e.g. Copilot, code assistants, automation tooling) to enhance productivity, code quality, and delivery velocity—within enterprise risk and control frameworks.</li><li>Contribute to continuous improvement by evaluating and adopting appropriate technologies, tools, and methodologies.</li><li>Design and deliver solutions that meet both functional and non-functional requirements (e.g. performance, scalability, resilience).</li><li>Support and mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.</li><li>Proactively communicate progress, risks, and dependencies, escalating impediments early to minimise delivery impact.</li></ul>Experience / CompetencesEssential<ul><li>Extensive experience (5+ years) as a Senior Software Engineer within a complex, delivery-focused environment.</li><li>Strong expertise in .NET (C#) across modern .NET Framework and .NET Core environments.</li><li>Proven experience developing distributed, real-time systems and designing scalable system components.</li><li>Solid experience with relational databases (e.g. MS SQL Server, MySQL), including schema design and optimisation.</li><li>Proficiency in WPF application development.</li><li>Hands-on experience with event-driven and asynchronous messaging architectures.</li><li>Experience working with cloud platforms (preferably AWS), including deployment and management of cloud-based services.</li><li>Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control (GitHub/GitLab), and package management.</li><li>Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and collaborative delivery across geographically distributed teams.</li><li>Demonstrable understanding of AI capabilities and limitations in software engineering, with the ability to apply these responsibly within enterprise governance frameworks.</li><li>Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive, detail-oriented, and delivery-focused mindset.</li><li>Ability to critically evaluate and challenge design decisions to drive optimal technical outcomes.</li><li>Experience delivering proofs of concept (POCs) to validate technical approaches.</li><li>Competence in writing test tools, technical documentation, and supporting maintainable systems.</li></ul>Desired<ul><li>Experience within financial services/trading platforms and understanding of financial markets.</li><li>Knowledge of the FIX protocol and experience managing FIX connectivity.</li><li>Exposure to Java and/or JavaScript.</li><li>Deeper expertise in AWS services, including serverless architectures and microservices.</li><li>Experience with TDD, BDD, or similar engineering practices for defining and validating requirements.</li></ul>Band &amp; Level<ul><li>Manager / 6</li></ul>#NIJobs #LI-Hybrid #LI-ASONot The Perfect Fit?Concerned that you may not meet the criteria precisely?
