<h2>Overview</h2>We are designing the grid of the future!  We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager - Distribution Design with expertise in the Distribution Utilities sector. The ideal candidate will oversee the planning, execution, financial performance, and successful delivery of utility engineering and consulting projects. This role requires strong technical knowledge, stakeholder management skills, business acumen, and project execution experience within the utility industry.<h2>Responsibilities</h2>Join us in leading the change!Project Planning &amp; Execution<ul> <li>Develop project scope, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and milestones.</li> <li>Define project deliverables and ensure adherence to technical specifications, quality standards, and client requirements.</li> <li>Interface between management, electrical engineers, designers, and business units.</li> <li>Lead multidisciplinary project teams consisting of engineers, designers, analysts, and subject matter experts.</li> <li>Manage projects involving distribution design, standards development, process improvement, change management, automation initiatives, and operational improvement efforts.</li> <li>Establish project execution plans, reporting structures, communication plans, and operational workflows for new clients and programs.</li> <li>Develop and monitor project KPIs, productivity metrics, quality metrics, and operational dashboards to support continuous improvement initiatives.</li> <li>Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to maintain schedule, budget, and quality objectives.</li></ul>Stakeholder &amp; Client Management<ul> <li>Collaborate with external stakeholders and internal teams to ensure seamless integration of initiatives and projects.</li> <li>Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and key stakeholders.</li> <li>Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and issue resolution.</li> <li>Facilitate client meetings, status reviews, and executive-level project updates.</li> <li>Escalate project issues appropriately and drive resolution to support successful project outcomes.</li></ul>Resource &amp; Financial Management<ul> <li>Track project progress and report performance metrics to senior management.</li> <li>Allocate resources effectively and monitor project costs and utilization.</li> <li>Effectively monitor and control resource utilization across assigned projects.</li> <li>Manage project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, profitability tracking, and revenue forecasting.</li> <li>Develop, negotiate, and manage change orders, scope modifications, and contract amendments.</li> <li>Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements while maintaining profitability targets.</li></ul>Contract &amp; Procurement Management<ul> <li>Ensure projects consistently apply contract and claims management practices in accordance with EPE policies and contractual agreements.</li> <li>Support procurement and subcontractor coordination activities as required.</li> <li>Manage projects under fixed-price, unit-rate, and time-and-materials contract structures.</li></ul>Health, Safety &amp; Environment (HSE)<ul> <li>Ensure projects follow and comply with company health, safety, and environmental policies.</li> <li>Promote a culture of safety, quality, and accountability throughout project execution.</li></ul>People Leadership &amp; Development<ul> <li>Develop project staff through formal and informal mentoring, coaching, and performance feedback.</li> <li>Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams and disciplines.</li> <li>Support recruiting, onboarding, and development of project personnel as needed.</li></ul>Business Development &amp; Growth<ul> <li>Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and support business growth initiatives.</li> <li>Assist with proposal development, scope definition, estimating, and pursuit activities.</li> <li>Support onboarding of new clients and establishment of project delivery processes and expectations.</li> <li>Contribute to strategic initiatives that improve operational efficiency, project delivery, and client satisfaction.</li></ul>  <h2>Qualifications</h2>Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:<ul> <li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field from an accredited program.</li> <li>5–10 years of project management experience within utility engineering, distribution design, consulting, or related power sector disciplines.</li> <li>Proven experience managing engineering consulting projects under fixed-price, unit-rate, and time-and-materials contracts.</li> <li>Demonstrated experience managing project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, profitability tracking, utilization management, and change order development.</li> <li>Experience establishing project delivery processes, performance metrics, reporting structures, and operational workflows for new clients and programs.</li> <li>Ability to identify opportunities and lead proposals and pursuit efforts. Proven ability to develop business and establish relationships with clients.</li> <li>Ability to handle large volumes of work and multitask in a fast-paced consulting environment.</li> <li>Ability to operate effectively with limited administrative support and multiple competing priorities.</li> <li>Self-starter capable of independently managing project execution, client communication, financial tracking, and operational reporting.</li> <li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply diversified knowledge and judgment across a broad range of assignments.</li> <li>Strong experience with project controls, document management, scheduling, cost control, and project management tools such as Jira, Monday.com, Microsoft Project, Power BI, or similar platforms.</li> <li>Familiarity with utility distribution design practices, NESC requirements, permitting processes, utility work management systems, and engineering project delivery.</li> <li>Familiarity with quality management systems, productivity management, and continuous improvement methodologies.</li> <li>Understanding of software engineering principles, databases, automation technologies, cloud-based platforms, and utility technology systems is preferred.</li> <li>Ability to travel up to 10% for client meetings, field visits, business development activities, and team collaboration.</li> <li>Experience leveraging AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity and innovation</li></ul> Strongly Preferred Qualifications<ul> <li>Previous consulting experience preferred but not required.</li> <li>Experience managing utility distribution programs for investor-owned utilities, cooperatives, or municipal utilities.</li> <li>Experience developing operational dashboards, KPIs, and performance reporting tools.</li> <li>Experience supporting utility modernization, grid resiliency, distributed energy resources, or related utility initiatives.</li> <li>Familiarity with engineering design workflows, quality assurance processes, and field operations.</li> <li>PMP certification preferred.</li></ul> Be a part of an innovative team shaping the grid of the future through advanced energy intelligence.  For more than half a century, Electric Power Engineers (EPE) has partnered with power and energy clients across the globe, providing consulting expertise and energy intelligence software solutions for complex engineering and grid modeling challenges.
