Job Summary IPEX Edmonton PVC Plant has an opening for an Operator 1 position. The successful candidate will focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.Principal Responsibilities:<ul><li>With training, assist in the line operation of extruders and associated equipment.</li><li>Follow and review all plant policies and practices to ensure safety, quality, service and cost objectives are met.</li><li>Ensure work area is clean and tidy prior to any rotation or shift end.</li><li>Responsible for performing duties in a safe and practical manner and ensure that your workspace is free of hazards</li><li>Package pipe in accurate pallet sizes and quantities and document production. Strap crates tightly and neatly.</li><li>Inspect product to ensure product meets standard before packaging. Ensure packaging has appropriate label, weight, quantity, and quality.</li><li>Use basic hand tools including pneumatic nail guns, saws, micrometers, calipers and other measuring devices.</li><li>Identify, transfer, and load material for production; report scrap in compliance with work instructions. Inspect and report potential unsafe or hazardous conditions</li><li>Maintain acceptable housekeeping, environmental and safe working conditions</li><li>Help implement and sustain Manufacturing Excellence program (including 5S program).</li><li>Other duties as assigned</li></ul><h1></h1>Qualifications:<ul><li>Proven ability to follow safety policies and procedures</li><li>Grade 12 level reading, writing and mathematical skills, including working knowledge of the imperial and metric measurement systems</li><li>Experience using basic hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, hammers, saws, nail gun, etc.).</li><li>Previous experience in a manufacturing environment or other similar fields is highly preferred</li><li>Previous forklift experience is a plus</li><li>Detail oriented with excellent analytical, problem-solving skills, multi-tasking, and organizational skills</li><li>Knowledge of Health and Safety practices is necessary, along with a basic understanding of the MES system</li></ul>Shift &amp; Pay: <ul><li>12 hour day shift 8am-8pm and 12 hour night shift 8pm-8am</li><li>Must be comfortable working rotating 12-hour shifts across both days and nights</li><li>Starting hourly rate of $29.31/hour</li></ul>Benefits: <ul><li>Disability and life insurance part of Group Benefits</li><li>11 paid holidays throughout the year</li><li>4% paid vacation time</li><li>Retirement program as part of Group Benefits plan</li></ul>
