How you'll contribute As a Working Student in Process Engineering and R&amp;D, you sit exactly where design meets reality. You work alongside our engineering and R&amp;D teams to develop, operate, and improve our Direct Air Capture (DAC) systems, turning concepts on paper into hardware that runs. This is hands-on work at our pilot plants in Essen, with real ownership, fast learning, and a direct line to the technology that pulls carbon from the air. If you like seeing your ideas built and tested rather than filed away, you will feel at home here. <ul><li>Help operate, maintain, and improve our DAC pilot plants and experimental setups, working hands-on at the plant.</li><li>Build and adjust 3D CAD models and technical drawings for plant components and experimental rigs.</li><li>Work with P&amp;IDs to map system processes, trace lines, and document upgrades clearly.</li><li>Support the mechanical integration of new components, such as piping, pumps, and solid-liquid separation units.</li><li>Turn process theory into working hardware and see your contributions become part of real carbon capture systems.</li><li>Bring fresh ideas to a team that listens, and watch the good ones make it into the plant.</li></ul>Your first 12 months in the role Month 1 to 3: Learn our plants and tools, get comfortable with our P&amp;IDs, and start supporting daily operations. Month 4 to 6: Take ownership of CAD tasks and lead small integration jobs with guidance from the team. Month 7 to 12: Run defined workstreams independently and propose improvements that make our setups run better. About you Must-have<ul><li>Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's in Chemical, Process, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.</li><li>Solid foundational understanding of process engineering principles and fluid mechanics.</li><li>Confident with CAD software such as Fusion or Inventor, and able to read and interpret P&amp;IDs.</li><li>A proactive team player with strong initiative and a real hands-on mentality. GCT operates a low energy DAC approach to capture CO2 while generating hydrogen as a byproduct. The process consists of 3 main process steps. Absorption in a liquid, precipitation and desorption through alkaline electrolysis. The technology is based on 15 years of research with relevant patent applications filed and working prototypes.
