This analysis includes the non-linear, anisotropic behavior of high-temperature superconductors (HTS) in both insulated and non-insulated magnet systems. Incorporating complex multi-physics (heat transfer, fluids, mechanics, etc) system behavior into simplified, elegant network circuit and/or FEA models are also crucial to modelling the multi-physics behavior of superconducting magnets. The Electromagnetics Analysis Engineer will also work with a team of experimentalists and engineers to validate simulations against experimental data. Familiarity with both commercial finite element analysis software packages and developing custom in-house code in python and extensions of commercial packages is necessary.</span></div><div> </div><div><span style="font-size:16px;">This work is conducted within a multi-disciplinary team of physicists and engineers. Participation and clear, concise communication in design and test activities is necessary to both inform design decisions and correlate models to experiment.</span></div><br><br><h3>What you'll do:</h3><ul><li>Perform electromagnetic analysis of superconducting magnets and inform design decisions</li><li>Work with experimental teams on instrumentation, measurement, and correlation of experiment to analysis</li><li>Develop new numerical tools, as needed, to facilitate multi-objective design optimization of high-temperature superconducting magnets</li><li>Perform non-linear, highly-anisotropic E&amp;M simulations in complicated geometries</li><li>Identify enabling technologies in the modeling and construction of high-temperature superconducting magnets</li><li>Prepare reports and presentations as necessary</li><li>Mentor and guide new members of the team in magnet design and analysis as necessary</li></ul><h3>What we’re looking for:</h3><ul><li>At least a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or another relevant field with an EM background (physics, mechanical engineering, etc.)</li><li>7+ years of experience modeling electromagnetics using finite element method</li><li>A strong background and theoretical understanding of computational electromagnetic analysis</li><li>Experience modeling non-linear physics</li><li>Experience with commercial finite element tools.
