This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership — setting UI engineering standards, driving architectural decisions, and contributing directly to high-impact systems within a monorepo serving multiple business domains.  You will work within Agile, cross-functional squads, collaborating with architects, product stakeholders, and engineering teams to deliver intuitive, high-performance user interfaces supporting complex financial workflows. You will also play a key role in establishing AI-assisted development practices and tooling across the team.Role Responsibilities<ul><li>Build modern, accessible web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React within a monorepo architecture.</li><li>Guide architecture and design decisions for microfrontend systems, ensuring solutions align with strategic technical direction.</li><li>Lead and mentor engineers, promoting best practices around code quality, accessibility, and knowledge sharing.</li><li>Implement robust testing strategies across unit, component, and browser-based tests.</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features from design through deployment, including CI/CD pipeline configuration and release management.</li><li>Drive continuous improvement through experimentation, refactoring, and adoption of modern tooling — including AI coding assistants and agent-based workflows.</li><li>Ensure adherence to SDLC processes, CI/CD pipelines, and code governance tooling.</li><li>Support estimation, planning, and risk identification to enable predictable delivery.</li><li>Champion accessibility, performance optimisation, and web security best practices across the team.</li></ul>Experience &amp; CompetenciesEssential<ul><li>Deep understanding of the web platform — HTML, CSS, JavaScript, browser APIs, and web standards.</li><li>Strong TypeScript skills and experience building large-scale applications with React.</li><li>Experience delivering high-performance, scalable UI applications in complex or regulated domains.</li><li>Proven ability to lead and mentor engineers within Agile teams.</li><li>Experience with complex data-driven UI components such as data grids or real-time visualisations.</li><li>Proficiency with modern testing frameworks (e.g. Vitest, Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright, Cypress).</li><li>Familiarity with code quality and governance tools (e.g. Biome, ESLint, SonarQube).</li><li>Strong understanding of performance optimisation and web security best practices.</li><li>Experience working with Git-based version control, CI/CD pipelines, and structured commit workflows.</li><li>Experience with AI-assisted development — working with coding agents and reviewing their output.</li><li>Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.</li></ul>Desired<ul><li>Experience with monorepo orchestration tools such as Turborepo or Nx.</li><li>Familiarity with module federation or microfrontend architectures.</li><li>Exposure to financial markets, trading platforms, or pricing systems.</li><li>Experience with modern bundlers such as Rsbuild or Vite.</li><li>Experience with Storybook for component documentation and visual testing.</li><li>Understanding of GraphQL or API client generation tooling.</li><li>Knowledge of containerisation, deployment tooling, or cloud-based UI environments.</li></ul>Role Band &amp; Level: Manager, 6#LI-Hybrid #LI-MIDNot The Perfect Fit?Concerned that you may not meet the criteria precisely?
