This role is responsible for guiding new products from concept through production release, collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and commercial teams to deliver innovative, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions. This role is expected to work hands-on, lead cross-functional technical decisions, and create reusable standards that improve the speed and success of future launches.</p><p><strong> </strong><strong>New Product Development</strong></p><ul><li>Lead cross-functional development of new metal additive manufactured products from concept through production launch.</li><li>Evaluate customer requirements and convert them into manufacturable product designs.</li><li>Develop and execute product development plans, including design reviews, risk assessments, and validation activities.</li><li>Serve as the technical lead for new product introductions (NPI).</li><li>Develop and define the end-to-end machining, heat treatment, finishing, and inspection processes.</li><li>Establish manufacturing documentation including work instructions, SOP’s, and process control plans.</li></ul><p><strong>Design Engineering</strong></p><ul><li>Create and optimize 3D CAD models and engineering drawings.</li><li>Apply Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) principles to maximize performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.</li><li>Design fixtures, tooling, supports, and secondary machining strategies.</li><li>Perform engineering analyses including tolerance stack-ups, thermal distortion evaluation, and structural assessments.</li><li>Participate in technical reviews, design discussions, and project planning meetings.</li></ul><p><strong>Quality &amp; Continuous Improvement</strong></p><ul><li>Collaborate with Quality Engineering to develop inspection strategies and validation plans.</li><li>Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing issues.</li><li>Drive continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.</li><li>Support qualification and certification activities for aerospace, medical, defense, or industrial applications.</li></ul><p><strong>Technology Development</strong></p><ul><li>Evaluate emerging additive manufacturing post-processing technologies, materials, and software.</li><li>Lead process development initiatives to improve part quality and manufacturing efficiency.</li><li>Support equipment selection, installation, and commissioning of new manufacturing systems.</li><li>Support quotation activities by estimating manufacturing costs and production timelines.</li><li>Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.</li></ul><p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.</li><li>7–10+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing or product development.</li><li>3+ years of experience with metal additive manufacturing technologies.</li><li>Strong understanding of DfAM principles.</li><li>Experience with CNC machining, tooling and fixture design, heat treatment, finishing, and secondary manufacturing processes.</li><li>Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Netfabb, nTop, and Magics or comparable tools</li><li>Experience interpreting GD&amp;T, engineering drawings and inspection results.</li><li>Strong technical leadership, project planning, communication, and hands-on problem-solving skills.</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Master's degree in Engineering or Materials Science.</li><li>Knowledge of titanium, stainless steel, nickel superalloys, aluminum, cobalt chrome, or tool steels.</li><li>Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and topology optimization.</li><li>Experience with CAM programming, five-axis machining, wire EDM, CMM, CT scanning, metallography, and surface metrology.</li><li>Experience with FEA, topology optimization, thermal distortion prediction, or tolerance simulation.</li><li>Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, FAI/AS9102, PFMEA, control plans, SPC, MSA, and statistical qualification.</li><li>Experience supporting capital-equipment selection and commissioning.</li></ul><div><div><div><p>Massachusetts Salary Range</p></div><div>Salary Range</div><div><span>$130,000</span><span>—</span><span>$150,000 USD</span></div></div></div><div><p>Seurat Technologies is an Equal Opportunity Employer that values employees with a broad cross-cultural perspective.
