Location: Port Edward Eastern Cape – Mtentu River Bridge siteREPORTS TO: Resident Engineer and Chief Resident EngineerPRIMARY POSITION PURPOSE We are currently seeking 2 Assistant Resident Engineers to participate in the construction supervision of one of the largest bridges in South African history. (One senior ARE and 1 junior ARE)The roles will involve providing extensive structural bridge expertise and technical support to the Resident Engineer in contract administration for our project at the Msikaba River Bridge site.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Main duties may include, but not limited to, some of the following:<ul><li>Acting as Assistant Resident Engineer.</li><li>Managing technical aspects on site, bridge erection engineering aspects, geometric control in the erection of piers and decks, etc.</li><li>Liaison with designers regarding site engineering queries when necessary.</li><li>Evaluation and approval of method statements.</li><li>Liaison with the Contractor regarding technical aspects.</li><li>Managing some resources for site supervision of technical aspects.</li><li>Application of the Firm’s Quality Management System.</li><li>Monitoring of quality of works, including supervision of production processes and any off-site and/or remote construction and/or assembly facilities.</li><li>Monitoring of programme and contract budgets from a technical perspective.</li><li>Quantities and payment certificates.</li><li>Preparation of variation orders.</li><li>Closing out project including compiling completion/close-out reports.</li></ul>KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS <ul><li>Compiling high quality responses to technical queries from the Contractor.</li><li>Timeous responses to all technical queries from the Contractor.</li><li>Proactive management of technical difficulties experienced on site.</li><li>Timeous identification and clarification of technical aspects and discrepancies in the contract.</li><li>Optimisation of safety management by the supervision team.</li><li>Effective implementation and management of the Quality Acceptance Control system on site</li><li>Handover on completion.</li><li>Optimum resource utilization.</li></ul>QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED <ul><li>BSc Engineering / B.
