The role supports compliance with industry standards, codes, and licence obligations while contributing to the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the transmission network.<ul><li>Conduct power system studies to assess transmission network compliance with planning and operational standards, including the SQSS and Grid Code.</li><li>Develop, maintain, and validate transmission network analysis models and datasets.</li><li>Support network planning and connection applications by evaluating options, resolving technical challenges, and identifying innovative engineering solutions.</li><li>Liaise with customers and stakeholders on connection requirements, code compliance, voltage control, and quality of supply matters.</li><li>Lead or contribute to complex projects involving emerging technologies, network performance investigations, and system disturbances.</li><li>Participate in industry working groups to review and develop standards, codes, and engineering best practice.</li><li>Provide specialist technical support and engineering leadership across SPEN.</li><li>Contribute to strategic industry publications, system planning activities, and future network development initiatives.</li></ul>What you'll bring<ul><li>Extensive experience in power system analysis and design.</li><li>Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly to a range of audiences.</li><li>Chartered Engineer status through the IET or an equivalent professional body.</li><li>Expert knowledge of power system studies, including load flow, fault level, stability, and power quality assessments.</li><li>Strong understanding of power system equipment and power electronic technologies.</li><li>Good working knowledge of power system analysis software, GB SQSS, Grid Code requirements, STC processes, and relevant industry standards.</li><li>Understanding of transmission network connections, regulatory frameworks, and the integration of onshore and offshore energy assets.</li><li>Awareness of commercial, financial, customer, and business considerations within the energy sector.</li></ul>Minimum Criteria<ul><li>Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.</li><li>Experience in power system design, analysis, and the use of power system modelling software.</li><li>Working knowledge of GB transmission planning and operational standards, including the SQSS and Grid Code.</li><li>Knowledge of one or more specialist areas such as HVDC, power system harmonics, electromagnetic transient analysis, or control systems.   </li></ul>What’s in it for you As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
