POSITION SUMMARY The Southeast Campaigner will use their skills to plan and execute strategic campaigns focused on the protection of red wolves and other key species in the Southeast. They will also develop and implement bold initiatives to mobilize support for forests, rivers, aquatic species, and watershed protections. The position will include meeting with communities, agencies, and local leaders to build support for red wolves, aquatic species, forests, and rivers. The Southeast Campaigner will organize events, meetings, rallies, and other creative tactics. They will create and manage multimedia content for campaign web sites and social media, generate action alerts, write op-eds and press releases, and be a voice for red wolves, aquatic species, forests, and rivers. An integral part of the position will be to build power with allies and the public to influence decision-makers on critical issues. The Southeast Campaigner will also meet with local, state, and federal leaders, and they will help organize and lead coalitions that secure meaningful, lasting protections for species and their habitats. The position also includes research and writing science and policy-based documents. The campaigner will be working closely with a dedicated and passionate group of scientists, lawyers, organizers and media professionals. The successful candidate will have excellent research as well as oral and written communication skills with an ability to think creatively and work collaboratively. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>Develop and execute campaign plans and initiatives focused on red wolves, aquatic species, forests, and rivers.</li><li>Communicate with the media, decision-makers, the public, allies and opinion leaders through writing, outreach and public speaking.</li><li>Organize and promote participation in hearings, meetings, rallies, and other events.</li><li>Lobby and meet with policy makers.</li><li>Create written campaign materials, ranging from comment letters and policy briefings to op-eds, action alerts, and digital organizing pieces.</li><li>Build strong partnerships and help organize and lead coalitions with Tribes, local communities, businesses, and organizations.</li><li>Generate creative and compelling content for campaign web sites, social media, and other outreach.</li><li>Coordinate with Southeast Program and Center staff on campaigns focused on public lands and wildlife.</li><li>Represent the Center at conferences, events, and public meetings.</li><li>Build strong networks across the Southeast to advance protections of key species and their habitats.</li><li>Assist with research and writing of listing petitions, comment letters, action alerts, and other outreach materials.</li><li>Leads community engagement with diverse communities in an equitable and meaningful way.</li><li>Perform other job-related duties as assigned.</li></ul> ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS<ul><li>Campaign or organizing experience</li></ul><ul><li>Staff: 3 years of experience</li><li>Senior: 7+ years of experience</li></ul><ul><li>Deep commitment to protecting species and their habitats.</li><li>Proven experience in creating and implementing strategic outreach, education and/or advocacy campaigns.</li><li>Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.</li><li>Ability to lead conversations and meetings.</li><li>Willingness to travel and meet with diverse stakeholders and leaders.</li><li>Ability to balance multiple tasks and deadlines in a busy environment.</li><li>Experience working effectively within coalitions, including honoring best practices and competence in diversity, equity and inclusion</li><li>Ability to work 30+ hours per week.</li></ul> WORKING CONDITIONSThis is a remote position.
